Well you guys convinced me to go get the Nickel Brook Wet Hop. Very pleased, light and easy, fresh and sessionable. Smells so wonderful. For someone who more or less hated Nickel Brook not too long ago, I've been loving them recently. Between the Ontario Wet Hop, Headstock, Naughty Neighbour, Bolse...

Actually I did purchase a sixer of Naughty Neighbour in August that was really fresh. It is good and I'll keep an eye out for the new batch. Mad Tom and especially Smash Bomb don't sell a lot in my area (Stoney Creek) unfortunately. They are both great and would purchase regularly if I find fresher...

Incidentally, I was out at Barley Days yesterday and grabbed a bunch of their County IPA (brewed with wet PEC hops), and it...

Not sure if it's going to be part of the fall release, the Halloween release, or just trickle out on its own, but Great Lakes just announced via their monthly newsletter that alongside their regular Pumpkin Ale, they'll also be releasing Saison du Pump (pumpkin saison) at the LCBO mid-September. It...

I like it, but at its current price point, I can't justify many more bottles... Buy a couple bottles of Amsterdam's Autumn Hop instead. Ya, except that's going for $4.95/ 500ml bottle. Not much better price point... $4.75. So 2x500 ml = $9.50 for 1000 ml vs. MHA @ $8.95 for 750 ml. I dunno, I'll ta...

anyone had a Muskoka Harvest Ale yet this year? How is it drinking? Shared a bottle over the weekend, it was pretty good, I thought if it had a higher abv, it would closely resemble a barley wine. Also, that was by far the tightest cork I've had to deal with, the cork actually broke in half (becaus...

anyone had a Muskoka Harvest Ale yet this year? How is it drinking? I have. It's drinking nicely, similar to last year's, IIRC, with the ABV bumped up even slightly more. Anyway, I like it, but at its current price point, I can't justify many more bottles. I'll have it again on draught, for sure. B...

The GL Pumpkin is very good this year. Grand river was my favourite reg abv pumpkin but this is just as good perhaps better. For sure its not filtered as much as the Grand River which i think adds some extra depth to the flavour. In the past I've slightly preferred the Grand River, but, like you sa...

Re: Pumpkin Ale from Great Lakes Brewery (2013)
The top-note is the squashy, pumpkin taste, as is meet, but with good malt underneath, from barley and wheat. Some sweet potato is in this as well. Spices are used including allspice and nutmeg but thankfully with a light hand, to complement, not overwhelm, the rooty, starchy taste of the cereals. ...
