Re: Barncat Artisan Ales (a BT member!!) opening in Cambridge

I'm going to be echoing the praise I've been seeing in this thread. Stopped by the brewery on Saturday with some friends. We talked with Jeremy and Matt for a bit while mulling over the samples and left with growlers. I got Chase the Sun, Electric Dream Machine, and Bump & Grind and after having...

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation

underlined the best 3 of the bunch Thanks for responding so quickly. How about Booker's straight bourbon or 1792 small batch bourbon? Would those edge out any of your previous top 3? Bookers is excellent, I would put it ahead of Eagle Rare. Note: if you go for Blanton's take the "original"...

Judging by the photo they posted of Eminence in a glass and the emerging trend of turbid IPAs and pale ales, this was probably not an accident.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Well, shit. I didn't think my little jab would cause such a ruckus. I didn't even realize it was Lister's twitter account (judging by the reaction). It really just struck me as an oddly significant emphasis on the beer's clarity, or lack thereof. It reminded me of things like the Alstrom brothers on...

This was my impression of the 2015 batch as well. It was highly focused on roast and woody barrel character without much else backing it up.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Barn Owl 3 was my least favorite of the 3 so far. I found it all peach and not much else. That said, I find Jelly King to be a phenomenal dry hopped sour. I also was lucky enough to try the new Grandma's Boy at the Bellwoods beer dinner at Brux House last week and it's going to blow peoples minds. ...

Re: smellwoods shrewery

Barn Owl #3, fresh bottle - brimming with juicy peachy goodness. I think the tart-sweet fruit works well with the dryness and slight acidity of the farmhouse, Subtle spiciness, pretty round palate but fresh overall. Creamy and layered, kind of an Imperial Belgo-Radler. Worth trying one. I got 2 bot...

Very good and a great value for the price. It's just a straight up gueuze and isn't sweetened like the Lindeman's Framboise that we also see at the LCBO.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I too got a bit of an acrid bitterness from the raspberry version but I found that went away as the beer warmed and opened up.
