Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
that Breakfast Stout label seems a bit off... ... oh, yeah, its Ontario ... wouldn't want to advertise beer in baby's porridge instead of milk. Might upset the dairy board ... but its ok for Nickelbrook to objectify women to sell beer ... I don't think this has anything to do with Ontario. T...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
I was stating IF there is a bottle limit at Summerhill then why wouldn’t there be one if it was online instead? Yes, that seems logical. The sentiment of my original post was rooted in the fact that I don't trust the LCBO to know any better, regardless of whether they do it online or in store. I've...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
If there’s a bottle limit at Summerhill then why wouldn’t there be a bottle limit online? Has this been confirmed? Or are you just assuming that the LCBO will for some reason have the good sense to set a limit (like the brewery itself did)? Not trying to be rude; I honestly didn't see any limit men...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
If there's a reasonable bottle limit, sure, that's probably the best way to do it. Otherwise Count Hugo von TradeHoarder III Esq. can just buy half the allocation in one go, which isn't any better (in fact, I'd say worse) than a Summerhill-only release.MatttthewGeorge wrote:Should be online only. Re: LCBO Xmas Release 2017
Sad news. If they needed to pick an Xmas beer to discontinue (and yes, I realize the process is not this straightforward), personally I would have went with Bah Humbug. Winter Welcome has always been one of my favourite winter warmers.

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Unless making the experience less difficult is not on your list of priorities... Why would it be? Intentionally making the return/refund process a pain in the ass is in their best interests, because it discourages people from bothering. It's not like they need to worry about you taking your busines...

Re: LCBO Xmas Release 2017
Yeah forgot about that. The fullers vintage has been sorely lacking in stock around these parts for the last 2-3 years. I don't think I've been able to score one the last two years. Ditto. I haven't seen any FVA around here in at least 4 years anyhow. Although to be fair I don't live in a major met...

Re: LCBO Xmas Release 2017
No samual smiths winter warmer For the first time in, what, 20 or 25 years? WTF? Now that I think about it, I haven't really seen any Samuel Smith's beers in any 'BO for at least a few months, if not the better part of a year. The only Sam Smith product still in the LCBO database is their Organic A...

Yeah I thought for sure we'd see that one back, what with the Rood slated to show up at some point in the near future.Masterplan wrote:Dammit! Bring back the Cuvée Van De Keizer. .

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...
In addition to the examples that darmokandjalad noted, Forked River brews a tripel called Trinity that I've enjoyed. It isn't a regular offering, but I have seen it carried a couple of times at beer bars in Toronto. I knew I was forgetting one! Trinity is pretty good, and the soured barrel-aged var...

Re: Ontario brewed Tripels...
Sorry to say it's still rather slim pickins in that category, at least as far as tripels within the provincial distribution system go. Many breweries release them as one-offs/seasonals once in a while, but you'll probably have to go to the brewery bottle shop itself to buy any. I seriously can't thi...

Continuing my way through a month and a half-long backlog: - Little Known Brewing Je Ne Sais Quoi - LCBO tallboy (4.2%). Not sure if this is basically a Flying Monkeys pseudonym brand or just being contract brewed there. Pours not-quite-clear gold with a prodigiously long-lasted head; smells of citr...

Re: Octoberfest/Marzan
It's not a style that very many Ontario brewers seem eager to reproduce in large quantities, that's for sure. They're hard to perfect and not much of a draw in the first place. I'm not usually one to pump Beau's' tires but their Farm Table Märzen (aka the märzen previously known as Night Märzen) is ...

Re: LCBO Autumn Import / Halloween / Ontario Release 2017
I think Paranormal will be a decent substitute for Pumking, now that Southern Tier has kinda quietly excused itself from Ontario. The flavours aren't a one-to-one match but they're in the same general spirit of pie crust, smashed squash, pumpkin spice and alcohol, if that's the sort of thing that fl...

LCBO link at bottom -- I couldn't figure out how to embed it -- clearly I don't have the great man's facility with posting on Bar Towel.
