Went to the Castle last night for one last pint. Unfortunately, they were out of the Executioners. Still had lots of great brews though. For those that are interested, the Castle is selling off some of their glassware (and the suits or armour!). They will have most of the glasses on display on Sunda...

I would love to see Anchor Old Foghorn and Rogue Shakespear Stout as Winter Warmers in the following years.

Sinha has a special place in my inebriated heart. It was "The" beer that made me first go "holy shit, this is what beer can really taste like? What the hell have I been drinking?" I haven't had one in a year or so. Sometimes you forget about the old favorites. If supply is going ...

Lagunitas Maximus IPA. I've had a few bottles of this and I really tried to like it more than I actually did. It's a weird IIPA. Way too sweet and malty, really stong alcohol for its 7.5% and doesn't taste anywhere near the 72 IBU's it claims on the bottle. Probably one of my least favs in an otherw...

Maybe it's the condition of the beer or the condition of my palate, but I'm drinking the Black Irish Plain Porter right now and I'm not liking it as much as I did in May 2006 when I rated it 3.7 of 5. Seems a bit thinner, a bit more sour, with a lot less of the smoky, dark-chocolate malt characteri...

That stinks. Not only was it a great place to sit an kill a few pints and the only place to get the Executioners, but it was the only place I knew of east of Toronto to get FRESH Scotch Irish beers on tap. Well that just ruins my day.

Sooooo disapointed! That was my most anticipated LCBO beer of the winter release. What crappy news, but understandable. For the love of God I hope the LCBO doesn't pass on it next year.

I know the Historic Ales of Scotland is a general listitem, but the majority of LCBO's only carry it with other gift packs around Christmas, so I'm psoting about it here. Does anyone (Peter?) know why the box lists 5 of the Healther Ale Ltd. products under contents (Heather, Scots Pine, Ebulum, Groz...

What a great article. I'd love to try the Palo Santo Marron, but I'd kill to be able to sit in on the once-a-month experimental brewing sessions at DFH! The stat that DFH doesn't end up filling 25% of its orders due to the demand is absolutely crazy. I'm amazed that DFH 60 made its way into Ontario ...

I noticed that the Food and Drink said something like "arriving at the LCBO December 10th" for the Brooklyn Chocolate Stout. Not to dump on the LCBO for no reason, but the last few times they've put dates on any of the beer arivals they didn't arive on time, incurring the wrath of beer gee...

Every single beer Grand River makes is a winner in my books. Not only is their pils one of the best in the provance, but the Mill Race Mild is ridiculously flavorful for just 3.5% and the Vlaams Rood is probably the most daring beer I can remember ever being produced in Ontario. The IPA should be ou...

I've got 6 cases and a 3.5 foot stocked beer fridge. 2 of the cases are aging LCBO releases, 2 cases are beers I've brought back from my travels or that friends have brought back for me and 2 cases are expedient beers with limited shelf life that are priorities to make it into the beer fridge. I've ...

Both the Hefe and the Dunkel are a tad thin and bland, but the glass is boss. I've got about 6 different whear beer glasses, including the Wunder Weiss from True North and a few from Germany, and the Erdinger is far and away the thickest and most sturdy. If you are a glass nerd, its worth the pick u...

I have been forbidden by the wife to buy any of the giftpacks before Christmas, lest I ruin the only ideas for presents she has for me. :( that I don't get them now, :) that I get them later. Really looking forward to that St. Peter's pack
