Are these "creamflow" beers with widgets in the can? I used to be quite fond of the creamy UK beers before I was introduced to Belgian beer, so I'd like to try them. There seems to be an ad for Abbot Ale in every issue of Mojo magazine.

The John Bull was not very impressive, IMO.

I too thought the licorice/aniseed flavour was kind of dominant. More flavours emerged as it warmed in the glass, but the licorice flavour kept coming back. My girlfriend likes black licorice as well, so she had a sip and decided to have a glass herself. These seasonal one-offs are always a nice tre...

LCBO.ca shows only Coxwell/O'Connor having stock. Bit out of the way for me. Anyone seen it on the shelves elsewhere?

It was actually sent on to me by a friend who is a wine enthusiast. I'm not a "mole" for any beer/ad company, but that does sound like an interesting way to make a living ("really, I love these tampons SO MUCH! You should try them too!").

What's with the prickliness? It's clearly a description of the product - likely cribbed from company-issued promo material - posted as an FYI.

Krait Prestige Champagne Lager

From luxist.com: Krait Prestige Champagne Lager is a beer that aims to bridge the gap between those who love beer and those who prefer wine or champagne. It is being marketed as an alternative to wines, sparkling wine and champagne, with the taste of beer but the versatility of the other drinks. The...

Beer Bible?

Can someone recommend a comprehensive beer book? Looking for something that discusses the history of beer, different styles, ingredients, etc. that would further one's appreciation and understanding of beer.

Is there an "industry standard" or "beer bible" out there?

Trois Pistoles in Toronto?

Any of the beer stores carry it? Oakwood/Vaugan shows it in their system, but they were sold out.

I'm having one right now. Not very impressed. Fairly generic UK beer (doesn't Greene King also run a chain of pubs?). OT: I was pleasantly surprised by the Okocim Porter - sweet, smooth and tasty.

Yep, realized that after I'd checked the Unibroue website. Says "2006 Collection" on the box, but I guess what I'm after is the 2007 collection. The Beer Store's website show's a Unibroue Collection with 12 different beers in it, but I've yet too see one.
