There's also a clock tower in the market now, which if your there you may as well drop by for a drink. They are brewing an IPA now, haven't had a chance to try it yet though. I've had the IPA at the Bank St location a few times (both cask and regular) and it was good (or at least better than I expe...

Hopefully Specialty Services doesn't make this shipping without paperwork thing a regular practice... The system really sucks for anyone who lives outside downtown Toronto. I dropped by my LCBO this afternoon. I hadn't received a call but I was expecting (or at least hoping) my case would be in bas...

Mine's in! 2 weeks' turn around. Not bad! What LCBO do you get your order sent to? Just asking since mine hasn't got here yet. I always get my orders sent to Bank and Walkley (store 243). I think that is the main warehouse for Ottawa. I've assumed that all Ottawa deliveries would go there first, or...

Friday January 21st Three new kegs received and waiting to be tappped Scotty - Hopefully you didn't keep the Dec 30th casks on for 3 weeks... I would suggest either posting every time a cask is emptied/tapped or only posting for special casks (e.g. the Night Marzen you mentioned before but never to...

2) There's a Wegman's on Taft Road ( runs EW, north of I90 ) with a great beer selection. I'll second the Wegman's. It doesn't have as broad a selection as Galeville did, but you can find some good stuff there (Stone, Sierra Nevada). I passed through Syracuse in November and was looking for some Si...

In the past when I have been told 4-6 weeks, its taken less then 2 to get to waterloo. I think it basically comes with the next store delivery from the warehouse. Unless someone at the LCBO in Toronto forgets to put it on a truck and just leaves it sitting in a corner of the warehouse... My experie...

I think there are trade-offs to both and so it depends on your goals. A brewpub gives you total control over the beers you offer - make any style you want (assuming you have the capacity). The downside is the increased cost to get started (along with the greater knowledge required to properly run th...

This is a (potentially) very good change. We had given up ordering cask ales at the Loon for several years since the quality was almost always less than acceptable. A first suggestion is to make sure you understand how cask ale should be handled. A useful site is http://www.cask-ale.co.uk/realale3.h...

Clark's Ale House in Syracuse is closing this weekend
I got an email today that says Clark's Ale House is closing. The last day is this Saturday (Sept 25). By coincidence we are heading down this weekend, so we will get a couple more visits to this great beer bar. Here's the message: CLARKS WILL BE CLOSING - SATURDAY SEPT 25 LAST DAY OF BUSINESS We are...

I was the first to place this order but likely the last to receive it. Just so you don't feel too bad, I still haven't received mine yet so you're not last :-( Maybe HMH can start the next order in January so I can receive it during the summer... Oh well. My fridge is doing okay as it is, and it'll...

Maybe I will send a note to the Heritage/Scotch-Irish, since really what is the point of putting your beer in casks and selling it to bars, if they aren't going to take care of it and serve it correctly? I sent an email to Heritage/SI 3 years ago about the same thing. They followed up and visited t...

Where did you go? I really like the Galeville Grocery even though the prices might be a touch high. I also like Galeville, especially if I'm staying at a hotel up that way, but you have to check the dates (at least on any bottles that have them). I've slipped up a few times over the years and come ...
