I'm looking forward to them getting the Malevolent and Immortal back in. Those are both great too.

There's a rum barrel aged Mad Tom on the way.

I'm skeptical, but we'll have to wait and see.

At least at Vices et Versa, you have someone doing some selection before the tap list even goes up, so your odds of getting stinkers goes way down. The real scary thing is going to a good bottle shop and trying a bunch of small breweries you've never heard of. I've done that once or twice and been g...

I don't have a clue. I can't think of any who brew for more than one other company I like.

Do you mean the best brewery that has someone else brew their beer, or the best brewery that brews for other people out of their facility?

I very much enjoyed Station Ho.st. I mentioned my experience there around here somewhere, maybe in the pub reviews section?

One thing I have noticed is that breweries are mostly absent from discussion on Bar Towel. Don't get me wrong, I get that they are too busy making beer, but with an established Ontario-centric beer discussion forum, you would think that more of them would want to have a presence on here. It's tough...

Just reading through the latest comments and realizing that there hasn't been this much healthy, substantive debate on here in a while. It's always good to take stock of where our beer scene is at and try to envision what could be done better. Hopefully some of our brewers read these comments and t...

The Meat Dept. is a tremendous butcher shop. I especially recommend their dry-aged steaks that come in vacuum-sealed packs (for reasons that escape me, I just really like the steaks) and the house-marinated flank steaks. Oh, and if you know anyone who isn't into the beef thing and you're doing a BBQ...

I didn't say it was a bad size, I said it was an odd one. Meaning not 330, 341, 500, 650, 750... 375 ml is a typical European size from Belgium, I think... a hold-over from the Lembeek tradition of re-using wine and champagne bottles... we've gotten some Gueuze, Kriek and other chanpagne-style beer...

On a related note, I felt the same way about house ales when they first got going. When they first started brewing their own they came out with all kinds of beers in interesting-sounding styles, but when I tried them all I pretty much always came away uninspired. I doubt anyone would make the argume...

atom, there have been breweries who go after it with their first release. Radical Road started with a barrel-aged wee heavy, Bush Pilot started with a barley wine aged in Calvados that had like 20 ingredients and Spearhead started with a pineapple IPA. I didn't particularly like any of those beers....
