Re: Nickel Brook Brewing

I thought Lost in Orbit, Duplicitous, and Cheeky Bastard were all from that first mystery pack. Could be wrong though. Bingo. I recall someone asking about it on one of their social media channels and NB claimed they were different, but I'm not buying it. The mystery pack contained a session IPA (O...

Re: Belgian Beer Discovery Box

I picked up the Belgian Discovery Box as well, what a great selection of beers - I'm looking forward to trying them all. I enjoyed trying the Saison Dupont Cuvée and Oude Geuze Boon for the first time. Both very good beers. The Gouden Carolus selections have been here many times before but I never ...

Re: Nickel Brook Brewing

I wonder if NB will just end up releasing all of them anyway, like they did with the first mystery pack lol

Re: 2020-2021 Winter Season at the LCBO

Yea I'm not sure why it's so limited here as there's clearly demand, but perhaps that's how they justify charging $23. I've seen it as low as $9.99 in the US so the rarity and price for us is definitely artificial. Perhaps they could still limit the bottles per person but offer more variants? Guess...

Re: 2020-2021 Winter Season at the LCBO

Devastating to have missed GI's Bourbon County Stout this year. Sold out already :( You're a week late. I think it sold out online in about 25 minutes. Less than that. I missed out on it and Muddy York's Inkwell this year. MY sold out of the Port cask in about 5 minutes and Sherry in 12. Both brewe...

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

I was in a LCBO store today which I don't usually go into and haven't been in since this whole Covid-19 stuff started. I felt quite safe with the whole distancing thing but the way the store was laid out and roped off I pretty well needed my GPS to get through the store. If you weren't paying atten...

Damn, I'm a sucker for that era of BMWs. I wonder if that's just a wrap that comes off easily, I bet they'd let it go for a bargain...

Re: Belgian Beer Discovery Box

Roland & Russell, Thank You for bringing in this fantastic offering. Superb selection. I've appreciated the memorable beers You've brought us in the past. As BakaGaijin requested the Orval I would also love seeing this distinctive Trappist return if possible please. Thanks again, all the best w...

Yea, I would normally skip it at that age but for whatever reason I had a good feeling about it. I can only imagine how much better it was fresh though.

Re: Wet Hopped Ales?

Picked up the Rogue Coast Haste Imperial Hazy IPA and despite the LCBO's IPA aging program, it's quite good. I didn't realize until after I'd bought it but it's a wet hopped IPA and it's loaded with fantastic fruity tropical hops. It has that full, viscous body that's typical of today's hazy IPAs- t...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

With a friend of mine recently discovering the world of craft beer, and instantly becoming a hazy fan, I've been tagging off his orders/trades and trying some pretty good stuff lately. The highlight has to be Brasserie du Bas, what a phenomenal brewery. Both I've tried, Neron and Vertige, are so bea...

Re: Rhino clearout

https://www.therhino.ca/beer-cellar-sell-off They had Westy XII + a "commemorative glass" for 20 bucks, although it's gone already (no surprise). Almost drove down there on Friday since that'll probably be a once in a lifetime buy, but alas I've spent far too much lately and with GI BCBS h...

Re: 2020 Holiday Gift Packs at the LCBO

Finally, O'Hara's makes a return. While I wish it was just the stout individually, I'll take what I can get; probably my all-time favourite Irish dry stout. Some other good looking packs in there as well- time to start saving. So the O'Hara's pack was in both of the KGBOs that I've been in recently...

Re: 2020 Autumn Ontario Craft Beers, Imports / Contracts?

... Also, I know that we're getting a lot of German beer that's actually brewed at Brunswick Bierworks in East York. That actually sounds very promising to me as opposed to stuff being shipped/stored in varying conditions. Is Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier one of the Brunswick beers? Really, because the L...
