Re: What're you drinking right now?

A bottle of Barncat’s Flanders Red. One of the unlabelled last minute releases in their final days. I ended up buying a case, as the price was a steal, and I’m glad I did. Nice cherry tartness playing off lots of oak flavour. Will make for a killer Carbonade Flamande. My stash of Barncat is slowly d...

No, but I did see a picture of the new branding/name. Not a great thing to judge a book by its cover, but……….

Re: Fine Balance

I managed to get my hands on a good number of their stuff recently. The IPAs I’ve had so far have all been very good, I find them particularly good at getting mileage out of the lower abv offerings and making them seem bigger than they are. Everything has been hazy in style but restrained in the swe...

Re: What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?

Finally, another one popped into my memory from the early days of IPAs in Ontario, that being Flying Monkey's Smashbomb Atomic IPA. Would love to try that again. For a brief time, that was easily the best IPA around. I had many, many pints at The Wooly. But Peter (the owner) was known for constantl...

Re: Is there a Great Beer Grocery Store?

In Guelph, the Zehrs(loblaws) closest to me has a solid selection and usually quite fresh.
Lots of imports but just as many Ontario/Canadian craft.
Bellwoods(4 brands)/Fat tug/lots of Great Lakes/lots of collective arts

That takeover at the Wooly is always a great time

Re: Goose Island Black Friday & Bourbon County Stout

The decline of the Bastard series has been disappointing. In the mid to late 2010s those were some of the best BA stouts going. Last I had was around 2020/2021 and I noticed a significant drop-off. It was watery, unbalanced. Hopefully it returns to form. I'd recommend trying Left Field's Blackburne...

Re: Winter Release ???

At least some of these are already in stores, or in some cases have been for a while already. The Windswept Bear stout for example is already out. I don't think it ever got any online stock, looks like it went to stores only. Feels like in general LCBO has had much less beer stock allocated to onli...

Re: Winter Release ???

Also I got two of the St. Ambroise imperial barrel aged porter, opened the first one a couple weeks ago. It had a super high carbonation, to the point that it was quite unpleasant to drink. Hopefully it was just off bottle and the second one will be better. I didn't find my bottle to be overly carb...

Re: Winter Release ???

Interested in the Windswept, they’ve tended to be quite good for the low price point.
Always happy to have more Gonzo, and glad to see the Allsops back.
The Bad Shepard appears to be Australian….don’t see many of those around here.

Re: Non-Alcoholic Beer

Just grabbed a four pack of Guinness 0. I have to say I’m quite impressed. The taste is very very similar to the regular version. I don’t get that “metallic” finish I get in all other NA beers, and it’s overall very satisfying. I’d say the body is a touch thinner than the normal Guinness and it’s al...
