Re: Mill Street Roggenbier

I haven't had it but what are your thoughts? It may be a while before I get to grab some. I've had it at the brewpub and in bottle format. Good beer, nice grainy rye character, some pumpernickel bread and dried fruit, a bit smoky, very spicy and peppery mouthfeel, ultra dry, almost sour finish. Enj...

I grabbed the Roggenbier while popping into the Richmond LCBO today, and was pleased to see not only that little treat but also Schneider Hopfen Weisse, Brakspear Triple, and Hockley Black & Tan. Should be a good weekend! :)

Just to clarify, the beer is actually called "Spike Light," which will no doubt cause confusion since their former light ale had virtually the same name.

Lenny's right. It's a decent spot that offers some interesting stuff every now and then. These are the other taps and bottles I've seen there before: Caledonian 80 (tap) Cameron's Lager (bottle) Mill Street Original Organic Lager (tap) Big Rock Traditional Ale (tap) Cameron's Cream Ale (bottle) St. ...

Tried this last night and really enjoyed it. Nice grassy, apple aroma, sweet and grainy malts, a bit creamy, some cereal and wheat flavours, excellent Saaz spice on the back end, light and lingering bitterness. I paced this at 30+ minutes, but could easily crush it in 10. Scary drinkable. Muskoka is...

I actually saw this at the Richmond LCBO today, and was reminded of our gourmet tasting a couple weeks ago. :P

Gonna try the Pilsner Light and Rosee D'Hibiscus tonight. Kinda pissed that I didn't catch the Hockley Black & Tan when I was in the store. Sounds promising.

But I also get the "want any real beer" line as well. So I tell them as soon as they start selling some, I'll start buying there. Wow, I would rip right into any TBS knob who said that to me. What a joke! Is PC Cerveza one of the real beers they're referring to? Good on ya for putt...

Best news I've heard in a long time. Thanks Milos, for all you do for beer in this province! Yes, thanks indeed, and BTW Milos, these new releases are INSANE. Hopsinjoor, Cuvée Blue, Samichaus, Lemon Tea on tap, with Beau's and Half Pints still to come? I'm in beer heaven! Long live Chancey Smith's...

Just to make all the BAs happy, I'm going to start writing page long reviews on RB just so that my reviews can be considered more in depth. Lenny - you're never shy on the hyperbole, but I don't think a page is what people are looking for, and length doesn't equal depth. My average review is about ...

Yes, I've picked up these elements in many of the US IPAs/DIPAs that I've sampled. However, with Ruination I got more toast and grain on the nose than I expected for a West Coast IPA. Others that I've tried, like HopSlam, Two Hearted, and the original Stone IPA, didn't have that amber/strong ale ar...

A lot of great IPAs still have a bit of a grainy/toasty character, usually due to attenuation - I wouldn't say they resemble an amber ale. I had a bottle of relatively fresh Pliny the Elder 2 weeks ago (was bottled early april), and it too has a definite toasty dry finish. The exception would be DF...
