Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

From an article on the CAMRA website by Ted Bruning called, 'The Supermarket Shelves - The New Front Line": "Now the bad news. Eighty per cent of the beer British shoppers take home is lager; and worse still, only an insignificant fragment of the ale sold in shops and supermarkets is anyth...

Interesting that Dan (seated at a table) found the music only "a little loud". At the bar,(granted we were coming in after a brewers meeting which may affect my judgement but shouldn't affect my hearing) we were overwhelmed by the music. I had trouble hearing Jason Britton from Walkerville...

It's interesting to see what drives opinion on the site. I think it is remarkable that the guys from Mill Street have committed the capital to a significant marketing program. Considering a brewery of this size probably doesn't break even until 7 or 8 thousand hectolitres, they seem to be on the rig...

Is it just my ridiculously simple beliefs or, if you are assigned the task of 'monitoring' an industry by the taxpayer, to accept any gratuity of any form is an immediate guilty plea to influence peddling and conflict of interest? There are no extenuating circumstances. It is corruption plain and si...

Wait a minute - an ad firm gives up an account representing a national and regional brand with a total volume of probably more than 500 000 HL in favour of a 3000 HL micro. Yea right... I think there is more to this story than meets the eye.

Rabbit, I'ld be careful about generalizing and conspiracy theories. They may apply to Ontario government controlled operations but I don't see it in Michigan. I go into Krogers and often find a selection from every bottling micro in Michigan and not one of them has ever complained to me of slotting ...

It's all entertainment...Perry, I must again applaud the results Interbrew achieved through Labatt/Oland because there is real variety in that line up despite the profit stream. Look at how bad the lame Molson attempts have been in comparison. Canadian, Ex, Heineken, Rickards (!@#$%!) line of crap. ...

It's true: context is important. One of the most refreshing lagers I have ever encountered was a can of Blue (!!??) drank upside down from a 3 piece can off of the filler before the seamer in London Labatt's in 1978. I was wearing a rubber suit and was hot and thirsty. Almost like sex in a can. Go f...

The Amsterdam King Street location has always been a terrible/unique production facility except for the gravity help from fermentation down to packaging. The old Denisons facility is less but could be a great spot for a focused head office/brewpub(cost?) given some effort. I guess the question is; w...

Borderline, I have a somewhat problematic tendency to throw out broad generalizations for effect on occasion. I think that is valid here. I wasn't so much defending Fullers products as reacting to a bit of my perception of the tone of your earlier post. I certainly appreciate and respect your perspe...

To offer an alternate opinion (perhaps), the best beers in the world (based on style) are consistently "been there and done that, and done that and done that and done that) beers that haven't caved to marketing tastes and have used new technologies to their advantage instead of cheapening their...

Hey Mike, It is hard to imagine any micro throwing a hired gun or a novice into the wolves at the judge but it does take me back to hearing "Miss Algonquin" telling the sampling public at a large show that we "naturally oxygenate" our beer and later a women comes up and sticks he...

Jeff,
now you've got me curious. Another trip to the LCBO tomorrow. I'm well familiar with chill haze and with bacterial hazes (and the associated flavour problems) but this was a solid tasting beer with a yeasty background. Maybe I'll contact the brewery and find out what's what. Thanks.

Enjoyed the flavour of a Rogue's Dead Guy today. As usual, the cloudy, chunky look really was a disappointment and affected head retention. I don't get why they (Americans) don't get it. If it's a cloudy ale at a pub, you should send it back! It looks like s**t! What twisted bit of individualism dec...
