Might as well suggest Denison's Dunkel for the winter months, if they'll hook you up with some kegs. While you're at it, Scotch Irish Black Irish Porter is a superior stout-like beer.

The Belhaven wasn't as bad as some people made it out to be, and I could actually see myself drinking (if not buying) it again. However, I was really turned off by the Honey Dew. It has a pronounced wet dog smell, as I stressed in my RB review. Some people might just interpret it as "honey,&quo...

I noticed the Liefmans, probably the most try-worthy beer on this list, isn't in stores yet according to the LCBO website.

Coincidence? Or are they held up by testing every bottle to make sure there's not too much alcohol/flavour?

I'm curious as to when we'll see the new summer beers at the LC. Anyone know when they'll be widely distributed, more or less?

I hit up the Fionn's at Church/Espy today after work to sample these rare brews. To be honest, Hoegaarden's products have never really done it for me, but let's give them kudos for trying something different --- you won't see those worthless Firkin bars importing anything more esoteric than Stella a...

My vote goes for Bells or Bears, for what it's worth.

Of course, AleSmith or Three Floyds would also be great. And has anyone tried Maine's Allagash? Always been curious about that one.

Cass, great event and thanks again for putting it on! I was extremely impressed with the lineup: these are all more or less local brewers, and all of them went out of their way to provide something special. There really wasn't a loser in the bunch. I would love to see any of these beers on tap at my...

I had this beer twice now, in two different venues, and the difference between the taps could not have been more radical. Had it at Volo, and it tasted like a thin PA with hop juice squeezed in at the last minute. I also had it last night at C'est, and it was about 10 times sweeter up front, but mor...

Probably because it was already discussed. Though I'm with you in that I expected more discussion on the topic. You know, I honestly didn't see that post! Ironically, that budget stuff bores that hell out of me. But thanks for pointing that out. I'm not used to this posting stuff. I...I gues...

Oakes on microbrews and the 2006 budget

Josh Oakes, Ratebeer editor and occassional Bar Towel poster, wrote a nice piece on how Canada's 2006 budget will benefit local microbrewers. Josh's column doesn't usually focus on the State of the Suds in the motherland, which makes this article of particular interest to us 'Towellers. He also incl...
