Introducing Light Mode! If you would like a Bar Towel social experience that isn't the traditional blue, you can now select Light Mode. Go to the User Control Panel and then Board Preferences, and select "Day Drinking" (Light Mode) from the My Board Style drop-down menu. You can always switch back to "Night Drinking" (Dark Mode). Enjoy!

They are decent beers but not extraordinary in my opinion. They are also two fairly under appreciated styles. The Rousse is technically a brown ale. While passable it's nowhere near as good as the Scotch Irish Corporal Punishment in its heyday. The Pale Ale is a blonde that, again, is okay...but it'...

It's no crime working for the Beer Store. We need more people like you advocating for better beer in that system. But your hands are tied to a certain extent due to the ownership issue of TBS. Regardless, keep trying to improve things from within as others toil to improve things from the outside. Th...

I'm curious, why those two particular destinations? If you are traveling in there are so many better beer venues.

Sadly history and architecture lose to excellent selection. I have been to examples of both. While I wished the place with the amazing selection had less sports blaring throughout the room that was a lesser complaint than the amazing location not having better beer options. I can return for more goo...

Sadly we are now at capacity for this event. It is a case of too many cooks (or brewers) if we have more than 25. The following are on the wait list; Grub Joe McPhee If there are cancellations you guys will be first in line OR if Mike feels comfortable adding more people you might be in...but that's...

Thanks guys! I've been proud to be associated with BarTowel for a decade. It has been a great resource, a fantastic place to exchange ideas, passion for beer and tilt at the occasional windmill. I'm very glad this is all coming together since it seems to be such a logical extension of our common int...

No, you are both in. Let's call this event closed. Any late comers will have to be on a stand-by list in the event of cancellations.

Thanks to everyone for your fantastic support. It will be a legendary day of brewing and collaboration.

Cheers,
Jon

Also, I looked into the price of a Magic School Bus rental to take everyone from the brewery to a downtown pub at the end of the brew day. Sadly they are fully booked on the 17th. If anyone knows of another company it might be worth pricing. If more than 20 of you are planning on going out together ...

I checked and I'll have no problem getting a bottle for you. They also have the ceramic bottles of the Double Mocha Porter at my local store if that interests you? Let me know if you want to proceed and I'll grab what you want.

Okay, I think we are very near our limit for participation. Might have room for one or two more at most. Here's the list of folks involved. Please check to ensure you are on it (some people confirmed using their BarTowel handles and their real names on Facebook...don't want any duplicates); Wilco ic...

I might be able to do that for you. I can check inventory here in Vancouver, I'm pretty sure there is some around. My wife will be out there after June 21st for a week so you could probably do a swap in person. Can I get back to you in a day or two?

It appears that the 2xIPA lists at the LCBO for about the same price as you can get it here (a six pack can be had for $17.99 tax in +.60 for deposit).

Re: Recommendations

I'm looking to expand my beer palette. Lately I've been drinking Sleeman Cream Ale and Amsterdam Blonde. If I go out I tend to go for Guinness. I had a couple Southern Tier IPA's at my father in laws the other week and was quite impressed with it. What are some recommendations? Thanks! My honest re...

Back in 2004 we spent about a month in China, most of it quite far inland. Needless to say there was very little beer available beyond horrible Chinese lager. I didn't bother with it after a few attempts...even parched I couldn't bring myself to enjoy it. Then, near the end of the trip we happened t...
