midlife crisis wrote: 'I also thought the Captain Cascade was tremendous. Did others enjoy it? What do you think the chances are that the cask might not be completely drained?' Rather slim, I'd say, as the bartender struggled to pour the last pint into my glass. I'm happy to report that even the dre...

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up. According to ratebeer, there used to be an Iron Duke porter too -- anyone ever tried it?

The Lakeport of Germany?

Interesting article here on how cut-rate pricing and international conglomerates are affecting breweries and the market in Germany:

Wellington Imperial Stout AND Iron Duke? Oh well, it'll be good to see it on tap. And always nice to see the Corporal forging into new markets.

Does anyone know if the Goudenband is just being pushed back, or whether we're missing out altogether? Count me in as one of the Flemish sour fans ... I guess Rodenbach then Goudenband was too good to be true.

The Pour House at St. George/Dupont has Arkell on cask (unless if they've taken it off recently -- haven't been for a while). Dora's definitely does have a Durham cask, as well as Fuller's London Porter from a handpump; seems to be on cask because it takes quite a bit of effort for them to pull a pi...

For what it's worth, I stopped by the Beer Store on Spadina north of Harbord today and inquired about the mix packs; the guy who worked in the back told me Sleeman's had discontinued them. Not a good sign.

Judging by most of your list, this sounds like a quest for punishment! Dora Keogh's used to feature all the Dave's stuff in bottles up until recently, and may still do, although I can't say I've partaken. Try Rowers on Harbord for the Warthog on tap, and the Duke of York often has the UC Wheat as a ...

Agreed about the IPA -- to me, it has an off fruity flavour. Not much of an IPA, and the worst (or least good, if you prefer) of the Greene King beers. I always have a pint or two on cask when I'm in London to convince myself it's as mediocre as I remembered ... invariably, it is.

Wicked! So many pubs/bars in the Bloor/Yonge area, but there hasn't been anywhere to get cask ale, up till now. Plus the prices are great. Why spring for a $5.50 bottle of Sleeman's at 7 West when you can grab a pint of something much tastier for $5 at Volo? Now, if only they'd stay open later into ...

A fantastic release -- what it lacks in adventure it more than makes up for in quality. Would have preferred to see them bring back Bishop's Finger rather than the Spitfire (which to my mind suffers quite a bit in its bottled version), but on the whole, this is as good a selection as we've had in yo...
