Re: Are there any kick-ass breweries I'm missing?
Barncat is right on par, if not better than 3moon and badlands IMO. Unfortunately no shipping, and not great hours if your. It local. Willibald makes really good hazies as well. They do ship I believe. Counterpart should be in your radar but not sure if they ship or not. I’d also suggest Dominion ci...

Re: Would beers from the past be highly regarded today?
Cameron’s RPA?? I used to think that it was a fantastic beer. The original version, the one available only in bombers…not this newest re-release version that was completely different. I’ll also throw out the original Witchshark from Bellwoods. Last time I had it, maybe 2 years ago it was a completel...

Well, that’s a very pleasant surprise. I didn’t know we were getting it back this year.

Despite all the negative comments above, these guys are still going strong. I've made two on-line orders from them this year, and while I'll skip the details, I wanted to give a shout out to Stephanie Whittaker for great customer service. I always liked 'em! Pick up any good seasonals? I’ve heard f...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
A whole bunch of new listings coming. https://lcbo.watch/new-releases A few highlights: Bellwoods Bellweiser, Ghost Orchid and new Jelly variant; Left Field hazy IPA; Blood Brothers Autopop; Karma Citra seems to be back early. Hazy variant of Amsterdam Fracture might be good too, I've been liking t...

Re: Sourpalooza: hosted by Exchange Brewery, 2022 March 26
I like sours but find I drink far fewer these days. I tend to prefer wild fermented and aged or blended ones vs. kettle sours, which sometimes have an unpleasant one dimensional sourness. Either way though I don't think my enamel or heartburn could handle an entire festival of sour beers though, yi...

A good few cans of Barncat’s ESB. It’s fantastic. Full malty body, a little bit nutty. Got a bit of that classic British earth hop thing going on and just about perfect carbonation. The only thing missing for me is that kind of marmalade-y yeasty flavour you get from some of the true best of the sty...

tempImageacy3q6.gif Snowmageddon beers! On a whim I ordered a 12 pack of Creemore Urbock from their online store, mostly for nostalgia's sake. (A decent deal, $35.95 for 12 x 473ml including doorstep delivery.) Honestly wish I could remember what it used to taste like from the old days, as I rememb...

Robohop. Big bold and beautiful. I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords. I had one last night as well. I found it really sweet, almost getting into TIPA territory. It’s been going more and more this way the past couple versions that I’ve had. It’s a long long way from the big bitter bastard tha...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Bellwoods Skeleton Key, ginger snap version- it’s a big beer. You can absolutely taste the 12%, it’s quite hot. The rum barrel comes through really nicely but I think it’s a bit overshadowed by all the heavy spices. It’s a bit like a dark and stormy/impy stout/carrot cake mix. Lots of big bold spice...

Re: Great Lakes
I concur, Thrust is tasting really nice this year; one of the best in recent memory. Lake Effect however? Wasn't as impressed, flavour profile seemed flat/dialed down. I noticed this with Lake Effect when I bought some on the day it was released. Ended up buying a couple more cans a few weeks later...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
It's certainly unbelievable how the craft beer landscape has changed; now we get new beers weekly! I agree about the Deschutes, will be nice to see a traditional winter warmer. I used to look forward to Sam Smith's Winter Welcome, but unfortunately it hasn't been around for a few years now. Indeed,...

Gateway city Rye Pale Ale- my first beer from these guys and I really enjoyed it. Nice little kick from the rye, good amount of bitterness, lots of orange and marmalade action going on. I’ll definitely buy again. Barncat Port barrel Rat Queen-tonnes of dried fruit flavours, prune and golden raisin. ...

That’s a pretty solid tap list. It might be one of the few and very last places where one could get some Half Hours on earth before it’s all disappeared for good.

Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation
Throwing this one out there to some of you folks who are probably more knowledgeable than me about tequila/mezcal. I’m looking for a decent bottle to gift to someone who has just recently started drinking tequila. I’m looking for something that will be good value, and not break the bank. Any insight...
