Re: Second Wedge Brewing Co.

Visited yesterday. Very nice space, great patio. Only had time to try the IPA (3 Rocks). Quite nice - got a bottle to go. They have a farmers market going every Sunday this summer as well.

Re: Montreal

You can't go wrong with Dieu du Ciel. Love that place.

Haven't been in a couple of years, but these are personal faves:

Station Ho.st
Brouhaha (Rosemont)
Cheval Blanc
McAuslan - not so much for the beer but the location on the Lachine Canal is really nice on a warm day

Re: Buffalo NY - what to see and explore?

If you make it over to Lewiston, Brewed & Bottled is well curated and very convivial. The Tops there has pretty decent selection for a grocery store with a walk-in fridge and crowler station.

Visited Resurgence brewery in Buffalo over the weekend. Very nice space, great beer.

Re: Brunswick Bierworks

Had a chance to check the tap room out this weekend. They are only open Saturdays from 11-5. 20 taps, the most interesting being the collabs with Mikkeller and La Trappe. They also had the Omnipollo IPA and Prodromus on tap (the Prodromus was excellent, much better than the canned version). Also a c...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

The Muskoka salted caramel thing is meh. Watery, thin porter base (i.e. no body). Finishes with a chocolate caramel aftertaste. Not awful, but not worth $3.65 a can. Too many novelty beers coming from this once solid brewery.

Re: Common Good Beer Co.

Checked these guys out today. Nice space, friendly dog. More importantly the beer is solid and very reasonably priced. Walked out with 12 473ml cans - 6 of which were imperial - for $20.75. Drinking the Hazy New England IPA right now and it's delicious.

Re: So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

Starbucks can get away with charging $5 for a 12oz latte and people will pay it without any hesitation. $3.75 is not unreasonable price for a beer in Toronto. If your price sensitive or can’t afford it buy something else and stop complaining. Unbelievable the amount of cheap people on this forum. E...

Re: So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

True, it's certainly not a level playing field compared to the US either. A lot more bureaucracy to deal with in Ontario. And yea, the price difference in the US is insane, right now you can get 30 cans of Genesee for $14.99 at Consumers Beverages, which is just crazy. If you visit the Genesee brew...

Re: So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

The metric that sticks out for me is this:

If you scale up the price per ml on a $3.75 355ml can to its 473ml equivalent that's $5 a can.

Re: So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

The canned beers were, generally, in the 6% ABV range. One was a sour and at least one was dry hopped (it may have also been the one they add lupulin powder to). I'm by no means going to avoid/boycott LF. The beers are consistently solid, they have a great, family (and dog) friendly space where you ...

Re: So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

I understand that there's all sorts of factors that can put pressure on prices, but when the likes of Great Lakes offers most of their lineup in 473ml cans for between$2.80 and $3.25 I'm going to vote with my wallet, especially when you won't meet me halfway on mixing 4-packs.

So is $3.75 for a 355ml can the new norm in east Toronto?

Looks like Left Field is following Godspeed's lead and charging $3.75 for a 355ml can of beer. I was at Left Field today and excited to see they had several new beers offered in the 355ml format, but when I saw the price my eyes bulged a bit. The price drops a bit if you buy a 4-pack ($12.75 for 4),...

Re: Great Lakes

There were at a least a couple batches of 666 where they really nailed it as far as a hoppy, dark ale goes. The most recent batch that I tried last year was a letdown. Not nearly as bold as I remember.
