Had a blast. The Academy was a gorgeous spot, am very glad I got to check it out for the first time. Played some snooker with Dan-D-Man. (I got the prize for the score most in the negatives! ) Dan and Joey_Capps shared a bit of their Quelque Chose with me, which I appreciated greatly. Didn't...

How dominant is the peat smoke? I have not really liked the smoked and peated beers I have tried so far.

There have been many threads and off board conversations about how laws in Ontario essentially prevent a "Great Beer" store from even opening. That said, in smaller communities there are an increasing number of Agency stores. Could we not apply the same principle in Toronto? Why not have a...

Yes and no. Was discussing this with someone else and in some cases it's not practical to make the switch. Kingston Brewing for example would have to give up a lot of bar real estate in order to set up a store and brew area separation, so they would have to really want to do it.

So I just got home from the Bier Markt with a large group of friends, (Going away party for a friend) and I have to conclude that the comments about it being a good place to turn people on to new things is true. I was driving, so I was limited to a pint of Sgt. Majors (Mmmm... yumm! $7 a pint?!? If ...

I didn't see much of any business at the Mikes booths, did anyone else? I was impressed that everyone seemed to pretty much ignore them in favour of the beer tents. I think generally people seemed willing to try new things. I chatted with a Canadian drinker who had tried an assortment of things like...

My tastings started so well, Rochefort 10 (a first), and then the vintage Black Irish (another first, and what a first! ) I was very impressed with this - I am not a stout/porter fan... perhaps my tastes are maturing? who knows. Saw Kid P at Scotch Irish, Cass and some others around. And the...

Having read the article I can see what Josh might have taken issue with in the article, (a couple of inaccuracies, and whats with the Cantillon quote about there being only six beers in Belgium he'd drink?!?) but from an authour who reveals in the last paragraph that she is a beer hater, it was a de...

My understanding (don't quote me) is that Ron Keefe was changing his license to become a brewery and will have a separate entrance for the brewery and the pub. Growlers would thus be sold from the brewery, NOT the pub. I don't think there is anything preventing breweries from selling growlers other ...

I thought Le Fourquet Fourchette was excellent, great food, Unibroue on tap. Whether it's worth the trip to Chambly is your call I guess.
