The last Rye Guy I tasted had similar juicy, tropical hop aromatics as HT. It doesn't mean it's the same as HT. It doesn't mean it's as good as HT. Good grief. It seems odd that you pick the top rated beer in the world to compare this to. That's all I was pointing out. And no, Heady is not just wat...

Bellwoods does sell branded cotton bags, so I assume that will be an alternative. LOL never made it to the store. Those bags would be cool, they are very reusable, protect the bottles well and take up very little storage space. Yep, they are cream coloured bags. Look really nice! It was either andr...

I haven't tried the skullspliter yet (and Jeff's post above isn't exactly putting me in any hurry either) partly because I'm confused on what style it is; the LCBO calls it a barleywine (which interests me) yet its labelled a scotch ale on ratebeer (which doesn't interest me so much); can anyone sh...

Canadian Beer News just posted about the next GLB 25th Anniv. release ... a BA Imp. Stout. It is the Stalin's Choice (wouldn't surprise me if they have to change the name for the LCBO). I can't wait to finally try this one :) This beer is 100% legit. If it's anything like the Cask Days version it w...

On the other hand, this might give us a good ally in the fight. Imagine if Whole Foods got these LCBO Express stations in the stores. There's an incentive on their part to ensure a selection that caters to their audience, which will most likely be interested in craft beer. Perhaps it will put groce...

The Black Note is straight from Bells (unannounced sale - they put the bottles out right as we got to Detroit/Kuhnhenn, so we booked it to K'Zoo to get some)
That's great, sounds like a fun trip.

This years Thor's Hammer from Central City. Very traditional and well crafted barleywine. It's a bit hot – shocking since it's been in bottles for a year – and with a slight astringent aftertaste, but very enjoyable now and I can only imagine with another year it'll be fantastic.

Another underwhelming beer from Beau's...
Yea, I actually think the hop profile on Beaver River is pretty unique – not just 'American' – and I was looking forward to an amped up version. Wasn't that impressed.

There could be an element of batch variation at play here as well. I've only had the LCBO released batch, but the hype is based on how good peoples experiences with the brewery-only batches were. This might be it right here - I love the "LCBO batch", but but the "June" batch tha...
