Re: Black Lab Brewery opening in East Toronto this fall

Not to dampen any enthusiasm, but I know one of the owners and asked about the Belgian focus referenced in the BlogTo article. Apparently, they just mentioned in passing that Belgian styles were among the owners' and brewer's favourites and BlogTo sort of ran with that. No real Belgian influence fo...

Re: Witchstock 2018

Ended up going despite feeling a bit under the weather (and not being able to find a buyer for the ticket). Glad I went as this was the best beer event I've been to in some time. I was at session 2. Didn't find the opening Ontario "gauntlet" that bad. Although Ontario brewers really seem h...

Black Lab Brewery opening in East Toronto this fall

By Thanksgiving weekend they say. If I'm reading things right the focus will be Belgian styles.

Re: Collective Arts

Totally agree on the Berliner/Gose/Sour trend. These styles used to be a once in a while treat, but there are way, way too many of them out there now. So frustrating when you go into a decent beer bar and they've got half a dozen of these and only one or two IPAs. Too many saisons/farmhouse ales too...

Re: Collective Arts

I'm pretty meh on No. 6 as well. I'd rather not see any fruit, sour, lactose etc. type beers in this series but hey, I'm not the brewer. I want beers that are solidly in the "trad" IPA category (i.e. hoppy). Loved no. 5. If I had my druthers I'd love to see them do a triple IPA for the win...

Re: CRAFT Beer Market - Toronto

Reviving an old thread. Craft has become our go to place downtown when we are taking in a show, especially if we have our 7-year old daughter with us. Food is always decent or better. Beer selection is extensive with more than enough, ahem, craft offerings. Service is consistently good. Kids menu is...

Re: Witchstock 2018

If you pay $120 to go to this event and you feel you got your money's worth, then you got your money's worth. I can't see myself feeling that way though. Most I can drink in 3 hours is 6 pints - maybe. That's $20 a pint. Yes,l there's great/rare beer but I can pop over to Lewiston and get 15-20 cans...

Re: LCBO Online Exclusives

I'm sure Keep6 brought in as much as they could, but 720 bottles is almost cruelly low. If everyone bought, say two bottles of each one, then only 120 people would be able to place an order. Was there a max number of bottles one could order?

Re: Buffalo NY - what to see and explore?

That Tops in Lewiston also has a crowler station. Just underlines how lame the rollout of beer to Ontario grocery stores really is.
