Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat

Oh the "pity cans" - It's always such an awkward moment of deciding if you actually want to buy anything after an underwhelming tasting at a brewery. I feel like wineries are more used to people just coming for a tasting and not buying stuff to take home. ... I am mostly getting beer to g...

Re: Henderson Brewing Co

I've generally liked Henderson, looking through my reviews most of their stuff lands around a 3.75/5 for me. Some are duds sure, but some are truly excellent like the aforementioned Export Stout. They've done some interesting things too, like their collaboration with Jacobson or the reimagining of a...

Re: G&M (paywall): Canada’s crowded craft beer industry is tapped out. What brewers say must happen to stay afloat

Breweries roughly fall into these (over simplified) categories for me: Top Tier - Are making good to great beer and are capable of competing on the basis of their product regardless of other factors. Second Tier - Okay to good beer, brewery has established a market and reputation for themselves. Th...

Nice to see some coverage from the Globe, thanks for sharing. People have been warning that the reckoning is coming for the craft scene for a long time now, so I guess I'm not surprised it's finally happening. If anything, it's going a lot slower than I would have thought. It'll be interesting to s...

Wow, my hero. Thank you for this, I also had no clue. And here I've been rationing my bottles that I bought last year thinking it won't come back for a long time.

Re: East Lansing, MI

One thing that still strikes me about the US craft beer scene, is how many breweries even the smaller to midsize cities tend to support. And not just the volume, but the density and fact that they're often within the more traditional urban boundaries of the city. Here it seems that outside of Toront...

Re: What to do with all these growlers?

I'm shocked if they still aren't accepting returns considering pretty much all restrictions have been lifted. Are they branded? If not maybe another brewery/brewpub would want them. Also, I sure hope they weren't charging a deposit if they won't take them back. most breweries have done away with de...

Re: Fuller's ESB

Come to think of it I haven't seen it at the LCBO recently either, or London Porter for that matter. LCBO only has London Pride listed right now. I would've actually expected the opposite seeing as they were acquired by Asahi a couple years back, typically those big purchases result in a heavier mar...

A whole bunch of new listings coming. https://lcbo.watch/new-releases A few highlights: Bellwoods Bellweiser, Ghost Orchid and new Jelly variant; Left Field hazy IPA; Blood Brothers Autopop; Karma Citra seems to be back early. Hazy variant of Amsterdam Fracture might be good too, I've been liking t...

Untappd also has a "Find It" function for any given beer, although it's not perfect since it relies on bars/breweries who post their tap lists on the app.

Re: Sourpalooza: hosted by Exchange Brewery, 2022 March 26

I like sours but find I drink far fewer these days. I tend to prefer wild fermented and aged or blended ones vs. kettle sours, which sometimes have an unpleasant one dimensional sourness. Either way though I don't think my enamel or heartburn could handle an entire festival of sour beers though, yi...

Re: What’s in the back of your fridge?

Nice one. I drank a 2016 BBQ in 2020 and it was very nice, seemed like the sort of beer that holds up well to age.
