yep, coffee in particular falls off pretty quick, which just leaves kbs felling a little 1-dimensional. still fun to experiment with as some turn out to be really good even as they change. just hate to see that tasty kbs at less than prime form, so i tend to pass that info along.

A few times now I've found bottles of a batch of homebrew that I thought was long gone. my cellar is a bit nuts, so i often find beers i forgot about - not quite the same as being sure it wasn't there. in my experience, KBS is best within a year of purchase. same with regular breakfast stout. i've c...

labour day weekend is always in close proximity to or includes my birthday, so i'll be digging into the cellar for some cool stuff to open. and with this year being my 40th, i think a few of the rarer ones might come out. i'm currently eyeing up the oldest bottle in my stash, a 1992 thomas hardy's t...

yeah, i often round values/volumes, but always upward so i can never be accused of falsifying anything. occasionally they ask for specifics when i say "a case" or "about a case", but mostly they don't care. if you're honest, they're usually pretty cool about it. if i'm doing a sa...

I've talked with customs too, and they said if you're doing $4$ trading, even providing receipts for what you sent would be good enough. but in my experience, they're usually shocked at how high the value of the bottles are, so even verbally telling them you paid whatever for them is good enough. re...

I also like that they put up a "similar products" section that totally doesn't work. For example, these are the products listed as similar to St. Louis Gueuze: ... Trafalgar Oatmeal Stout ...! haha, am I the only one who sees the awesomeness in citing trafalgar beers as similar to a gueuze?

WOW! That makes my moves seem rather tame. Best of luck... it'll be alright... i'm really only moving the beer myself, movers can handle the rest. hoping that between pickup+trailer I can get all 48ish cases + 4 fermenters + 10ish kegs down in one trip. It's only a 1.5hr drive, so nowhere near the ...

in continued preparation for the Great Move of 2014, blended and bottled 11gal of gueuze, bottled 10gal of old ale, and 4gal of imperial saison (the remaining 6gal dosed with 4-5# of cherries). Also emptied a dozen carboys into stainless. two left to keg this week, and all my (20+) carboys will be o...
