Re: Uncorked-Wine and Spirits Appreciation
Thank you sir, some interesting things I should check out, however anything you can think of at a “I won’t get in shit from my wife ” price point? You're into (expensive) craft beer and you're worried about shit from the wife over a bottle of Scotch? Your problem is liking heavily peated whis...

Really like: Lagavulin 16 ... still a classic but the current $135 price tag is getting into "pass" territory. Consider the 8 year at $85. Its not as "smooth" as the 16 but packs a peat punch Ardbeg 10 Compared to most markets, the $100 is still expensive but its been the same pr...

... it’s too high octane for my liking, taking my breath with every sip ... Not trying to tell you how to drink your whiskey, but .... you knew a "but" was coming  IMO, people's concept of "sip" when it comes to spirits involves too much liquid entering the mouth - especial...

Re: More for Cowbell
I figured the barelywine would be around $10-12 and both bourbon barrel beers would be $14-17. Boy was I wrong! Stout: $17 Barelywine: $25 Bourbon barleywine: $30drunk Seriously, that’s freakin’ ridiculous! Hahahahahahaa.... You can buy some extremely nice Port and Sherry for that volumetric cost. ...

Beau's ... Despite scoffing at this a couple times on the shelf, I got one as a gift and it's actually pretty good. It seems Beau's packaging is rather eye catching and their pricing does a good job enticing non-beer drinkers to gift below average beer to people who wouldn't spend their money...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & CBS
Possibly a terrible bar beer, but much better as a home sipper enjoyed quietly over 2-6 hours (not exaggerating this time frame in the least.) This is the pace I would enjoy über-rich things like ice wines, Sauternes, sweet Pedro Ximinez sherry and the like. A slippers and housecoat brew, if you wi...

Get 2 bottles and it’s equal to less than $10 for a 660ml bottle of 12% imp stout, compared to $12 for 500ml of Kentucky bastard. Both equally rated on ratebeer. But this way it’s easier to drink half and still have the other half sealed. Edit: can’t wait to try the lickinghole heir apparent, almos...

Re: One of Canada’s biggest brewing equipment companies in receivership
This is bull#$t. Isn't anybody insured against such an up-front expense? Seems like a ludicrous risk, so where exactly did the money go, and who at the manufacturing co. saw this coming and said nothing? I don't know much about the brewery equipment business but I'd have a hard time putting up $800...
