I tried a pint last weekend at the Judge. I was anxiously waiting for it since loving last year's version. I have to say I wasn't overwhelmed with it this year. I found it thin and bearing more alcohol that was hid in the previous edition.

My reply was not included, possibly because I waxed on and on and wasn't succinct enough. I still pause at the results of that poll and the comments. Then again, we are a pretty niche group in Ontario.

It's gonna break out here sooner or later, the US craft beer. . . . Let's say that the Ontario market is opened up to the Americans. Do you think that the Ontario micros could survive/compete? Picked up a couple of Liberty Ales today, in part based on this thread. OK but certainly nothing close to Southern Tier IPA or DFH 60 IMO. Yeah, I'm happy about an Oktoberfest as well. I've had it before a long time ago, and it isn't great, but it represents the style.

Of the two Anchor offerings, Steam is, imo, the weakest...650ml bottles or not. I picked it up a few times...I had sentimental memories of when it was on draught at the pub I worked at...but it could never compare to the Liberty.

I first had Bass about three years ago, so unless it's changed in that period, I don't have a reference point. That being said, (even stipulating that it's gone downhill), it's still better than at least half of the beer on LCBO shelves. Personally, I've had more cravings for Bass over the past mon...

One of my partner's friend's husbands works for Lakeport. I'll have to see if she can get me some "inside the plant" info. Regardless of the product, it's a pretty shitty thing the shareholders and Labatt did...or not, depending on your perceptions of a "free" market.
