I haven't tasted the beer yet but if it's a british style pale ale it definitely could be a yeast derived ester. London ale yeast from white labs is known to create such ester.

i've never brewed this style but the below recipe is from Jamil Z and i've heard it's fantastic. he actually brews at his new commercial brewery. Recipe: Evil Twin This beer ends up rich and malty, yet with a devilishly huge hop aroma and flavor. It is loosely based on AleSmith's delicious Evil Dead...

Announcement on prizing to come in the next few days, but here's a teaser... The grand prize winner will need a passport. Multiple breweries will be making category winners. My realisation: 1) I wish I was a better homebrewer 2) I wish I was not affilaited and could take part. I really do know of n...

(ie. minimal equipment, pre packaged beer kits) if you want to get into it to make and craft the best beer possible you will find it can get somewhat expensive. i know w...

fermentor geometry will play a role in the yeast profile of the beer. I've never really done comparisons to see the magnitude of the difference but you should just keep it in mind.

bought a two-four from the brewery a couple weeks ago and it was better than any versions i had on tap.

hopefully this is just a setback of doing business with the lcbo and future shipments get to the shelves faster.

Is the SmashBomb Atomic IPA in a open 6 pack? I would like to try one bottle to see if it's as hoppy as it is on draught. If it is I will buy more.
you seriously wouldn't buy a full 6'r for fear it may not be as hoppy as draught?

i would guess they used a lot of hop extract to get the ibu amount up there so isomerization wouldn't be as much of an issue.

i think it's a fun one off experiment and i'm sure the brewers learned a thing or two while doing it that will benefit the overall product.

i picked up a used fridge on kijiji and went with a ranco dual stage temp control (got mine from morebeer) and put a small space heater in the bottom of the fridge.
