This might be slightly off topic but I listened to this podcast over the weekend and I feel like it fits in nicely with the general theme of the discussion. Have a listen, I found it fascinating.

Not sure if this fits perfectly in this thread but I just read this on the flying dog blog and thought it interesting as it sounds like Doggie Style was originally an all Cascade ale. http://flyingdogales.com/doggie-style-slight-shift-in-position/ key points: " Dialed back the caramel malt by 4...

Stratengers

For all the east enders on here who may frequent Stratengers - was in yesterday and noticed a shiny brand new Sabco Brew Magic system set up there. Asked the owner and it sounds like they're in the midst of getting all their applications and hope to be brewing by the summer.

I will totally be a guinea pig for this when I see it and report back. What LCBO was it at? Saw it at Brock St. in Parkdale - you could hit up the Rhino for some pin the tail on the donkey beer selections then go grab a bottle. Well, I was already a bit of a guinea pig for the barrel-aged mill st. ...

I purchased last night despite the warnings - I really wanted to support NAC having the balls to bring it to Ontario - but as stated by everyone already the beer is a total mess. Full of particulate and close to zero hop flavour or aroma. Funny as I have some Runiation that I purchased in August/bot...

I don't think anything like that currently exists. Check out the events at Black Oak, I think they are running an event soon to demonstrate all grain brewing.

Anybody have any first-hand experience with these as a primary fermenter? Pro's/Cons's? I'm thinking about picking up the 6 gal. model and retiring my plastic bucket. thanks.

I can't remember where I heard this but it was on a podcast and had the owner of five star talking about how to use Star San, etc. He mentioned that if you use distilled water with Star San it will last a very long time and stay at the correct PH. I think he also mentioned that if your Star San mix...

I've deglazed with beer before but I've found I stay away from high IBU beers - they will leave a bitterness to the sauce. I've also made "coq au vin" replacing the red wine with Muskoka Dark which was great but a bit overly sweet as the recipe called for adding honey as well. Next time I'...
