Went there last night for the first time.

They're serving 15 Oz pours for everything, and pricing them around eight bucks each.

Eight bucks for a 4.2% local ale? No thanks.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

The freshness snobbery here is a little much at times. I'm not sure how huge a difference one would detect in a sessionable wheat/pale ale.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

The Muskoka salted caramel thing is meh. Watery, thin porter base (i.e. no body). Finishes with a chocolate caramel aftertaste. Not awful, but not worth $3.65 a can. Too many novelty beers coming from this once solid brewery. Yup. Bought a can out of curiosity. Tasted like Waterloo Dark to me. Noth...

Surprised about the reaction to the Modern Times pale ale. I tried that and the gose last night and was absolutely in love with both.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I not so secretly love Mort Subite kriek, even though people shun it for tasting medicinal. I'm really bummed that it disappeared from the LCBO a couple years ago, even though it was really creeping up in price by the end of its run.

Can't the LCBO just give us one decent kriek year round?

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Has anyone tried the Sinister Minister from Brimstone in the can yet? I feel like I bought a bottle one time but didn't care for it. Maybe it was old or something. I quite enjoyed the bottle I had back in March. Gave it 3.75 on Untapped "A solid IPA, not a hop bomb but well balanced." Tha...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I really enjoy pilsners in the summer time as well, but I have a hard time spending craft prices on them when I can get excellent euro pilsners for super cheap year round. There's something weird to me about paying three bucks a can for such a one-dimensional beer. Don't know why that is. Really wis...

Funny you say this, I haven't been enjoying it as much lately either. Figured it was just my palette. Maybe not?

The Redline Clutch is my current go to APA on the market.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Yeah I was hopeful with their whole Farmhouse Series, but each one of them have been pretty meh. Just had the 18 Hands and it was the most meh of them all. Amsterdam are becoming a brewery where I find myself saying "can't love every beer" more and more often. God I sound like such a pick...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Can anyone explain the hype to me about three philosophers? I mean, it's good, sure. It's not better than St Bernardus (which we have year round) or Rochefort 8 or 10. Just wondering.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Would it be totally out of line to suggest that craft breweries like Bellwoods simply post a brief explanation on their website why some of the beers cost as much as they do? I don't doubt that the overhead to make these specialty brews is a lot, but to the layman who just wants the beer, maybe mee...
