Same here, basically. It feels old-fashioned, like paying for the TTC with a "token."

Old Flame Brewing's new location in Toronto Distillery District
I just happened upon this recently. Nice space and it offers a low-key alternative to some of the other spots nearby. I'm not too familiar with the brewery (although their beers won a lot of Ontario/Canadian Brewing Awards in the mid-late '10s), but I like that they're producing both traditional and...

Re: Betty's on King St is Closing
The place is across the street from me, and I hope they have something cool on the ground floor. Anything but a pot shop, furniture store, or nail salon will do.
Truth is, pubs don't work well underneath condos because of the late-night noise and constant smell of deep-fried everything.

There goes the neighbourhood! Hope they at least keep the takeaway spot they've been using.

Re: Anyone make an Eisbock in Ontario?
Just searched in Ontario on Untappd (only possible on mobile, and the process takes exactly 14 clicks...fix it, guys!) and found a very short list. Also, Paris doesn't even show up, probably because of the ratings threshold. So yeah, Untappd blows goats, but here's what I could find: Expedition Brew...

Re: Okay...someone explain 11.9 abv to me...
It's a good question and you're right, not easy to find info about it. The importing page on the LCBO website doesn't specify % splits between beer and spirits. However, on this page it still says: 4. Beer or malt liquor of alcohol strength greater than of 11.9% is excluded from the definition of b...

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but this rule doesn't apply anymore, right? You can brew beer to a higher ABV in Ontario (and sell it) as of recently, right?
Haven't found any good resources online for this.

Re: Muskoka Brewery
Lots of activity in the industry recently. Here's more. Muskoka Brewery Acquires Rally Beer Company I kind of laugh at Rally Beer (which I am not sure I have ever seen or interacted with), as they are a beer with electrolytes. Years ago Sleeman made a beer with coconut water targeted at active folk...

Re: Pittsburgh PA
Very nice video! Great camerawork and voiceover. I could have easily watched a longer cut. Back in 2010, when I went on a road trip with some beer-loving friends, there weren't nearly as many hip spots downtown. Church Brew Works was definitely a highlight, though. If I recall, Pennsylvania had some...

Re: Great Lakes Brewpub (Queen's Quay / Jarvis)
GLB has managed to annoy me. A fellow beer lover and I today decided to check this place out. We travelled a considerable distance to check it out. Before setting out, I checked the website to see if it was open. It stated it was. When we got there, it was closed for a private event. No, not an eme...

Last night I had an impy NEIPA from All My Friends, a newer brewery in Prince Edward County, and I would describe it as God-tier. Worth a shot, in my opinion.

I'll second Rouge River and also recommend checking out All My Friends. I'm also a fan of True History in Toronto, but haven't had too many of their beers (yet)!

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Must have missed the Mas Agave Lime version was that this year? Don't think it's ever been at the LCBO or anything if that's what you're asking. I got it at founders in Detroit, a couple weeks before covid lockdown started. At the time it was just called 'Mas Agave', there was only the one version....

I honestly thought this was great, but it's definitely a novelty.distr0 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 4:01 pm Founders Mas Agave Clasica Grapefruit. I loved the lime version, haven't had the grapefruit. Will be picking some up tonight!

Re: Great Lakes Brewpub (Queen's Quay / Jarvis)
So who's been here? I went during the first week and had a good first impression. Nice space - not too small and not too large. Long bar and a nice mix of hightops and table seating. Unfortunately when I went the refrigerator conked out so the tap lines had to be shut down. First week hiccups so no...
