Was expecting the Jalapeno in my Mix 6 but they replaced it with the Hop Yard Pale Ale. Little disappointed as I was really looking forward to the Jalapeno but the Hop Yard is a darn good beer and acceptable replacement I suppose. I thought the original 6 pack included Hop Yard and Jalapeno, as wel...

Well, I have been with Sympatico a long time and I knew they recycled some stuff but to cloud the issue even further the link I posted now has a newer article as opposed to the one that I posted earlier today...it is talking about problems with the Provincial beer in the past tense...this is very s...

The story is about them defending the decision a year later - despite dismal and declining sales numbers.

Was the original link to the wrong article?

Craig Pinhey has an article in today's Coast about what he was able to find in the Oland and Keith recipe books. Quite the find for homebrewers and historians.

Re: 125 Places to Drink Before You Die

Only 5 for me, but Volo and Dieu du Ciel should both be on that list so I'll claim 7:

17. Mondial de la Bière, Montreal, Quebec

47. The Map Room, Chicago, IL

84. Goose Island Brewing, Chicago, IL

106. Brick Store Pub, Decatur, GA

113. beerbistro, Toronto, Canada

They would be the two largest independent brewers in Canada and the US now wouldn't they? It's too bad Moosehead wasn't more like Sam Adams - Winter Lager and Octoberfest may not be Dreadnaught or Speedway but they're a long way up from Cracked Canoe and Cold Filtered Light.

Re: BrewDog Brews a 41% IPA

"By commenting on this irresponsible brewing practice we only serve to add to their marketing and therefore we have no further comment to make." I love it! Just piss off the government enough and eventually they give up. Too bad no one in Ontario does this (not that I blame any of them). ...

How much provincial/state/country funding do those systems get? A lot of the problems of the TTC could be solved by a combination of more funding and more efficient spending. While I agree on your point about the comparison, much of the issue with transit funding in any city is the lack of city cou...

Toronto has no such excuse. We should be comparing ourselves to New York, London or Paris to see how much better we could be doing. How much provincial/state/country funding do those systems get? Particularly if they actually try to carry out their mandate, or if they impinge on the laissez-faire atmosphere preferred by Canada's business leaders. Slightly off-topic, but the preference of Canada's business leaders is so far from laissez-faire it's laughable. They don't want deregualtion, the...

Re: ARE WE WORTHY?

Sunday February 7th, 2009 2010. :) So does that mean that the LCBO, which as I understand it took issue with the name Aphrodisiaque, has no such qualms about names that contain bastard? There's a wine precedent thanks to Fat Bastard. I wouldn't put it past them to be inconsistent and refuse Arrogan...

I asked around for opinions on what specifically people expect when they ask for a pint when at the pub. Of the 15 or so responses I got, only two unequivocally stated they expect 20 oz. And the people I asked (many beer geeks) were people I expected to be the ones who care the most. Most of the re...
