GLB Thrust: Just excellent, I wouldn't argue too hard with anyone who suggested it was the best IPA to come out of the province. Delicious. Wellington Terrestrial: I thought this was really good too. Hops give it an almost stout-like taste, but the bitterness gives it away. Nice rich malt. Enjoyed i...

I don't tend to bring food back with me. Last time we were in NYC we wandered into a grocery store while killing time. I spotted a stupidly cheap big block of Beemster XO, snatched it up and ate it outside while walking to our destination. In Italy during our drive through there, we picked up a wha...

My wife and I try to do cheese and chacuterie at least a couple times a month. Standy cheeses are: Sauvagine Cendrillon Beau's Abbey Style and then throw in a couple others of whatever our cheese lady recommends. Can't say I've ever actually had beer instead of wine for these evenings. Mario D'Eer d...

London seems to really punch below its weight as far as brewing goes. Nothing much seems to be happening, and what is, isn't particularly interesting. Wonder if it's a property price thing. My understanding is that there are tons of new places and new breweries. Probably just means not enough of us...

It's interesting that the same recs come up for London as I got when I moved over there 4 years ago (with the notable exceptions of Craft Beer Co, Euston, and CASK). London seems to really punch below its weight as far as brewing goes. Nothing much seems to be happening, and what is, isn't particula...

I don't know how well known it is but there is a homebrewer going pro in the basement of Lunenburg. It will be called Waller Street Brewing. Just launched their website. http://www.wallerst.ca/ One cool plan is to partner with the local homebrew club to come up with a beer to be released. Also ther...

Lone Pine IPA for lunch and it's kind of ruined me. I'm surprised this doesn't get a bit more attention on here. It's a serious IPA, with bold flavours (both hop and malt) and packs a wallop. Love to see it in cans or a six pack.

Lieutenant's Pump seems to have really picked up its game. It's always had an "interesting" range of bottled beers, but it looks like they've brought in some good local taps now. On Friday they had Rye Guy, Pink Fuzz, Wild Card, Lone Pine, a couple Asthon and a few others. All over-priced,...

La Morsure

Not sure how I feel about this one. Quenching. Hop profile is really nice, good citrus and melon with a pleasant bitterness in the finish. But that's all you can really say about it. Malt and body are non-existent.

Not a bad summer beer... But not exactly at a lawn mower price.

I wouldn't rush out for it. It's pretty darn dull.

That's how to do it. PRE planning the whole thing too rigidly kils it. And I only fucking care about the world-class beer if I really have idle time to wander and/or it's readily available - really not always the top thing for me or something to base traveling around. Again - wasted opportunity jus...

Brussels

More about the best beer experiences (including ones I'd like to repeat) than the most exciting beers.

Re: stay classy, or stay off the internet message boards...

I think Liam was solicited by the brewer to clearly say why their 2.95 Ontario Pale Lager was not his thing, and Liam offered the free info. He likes the beers he likes, as we all do. We can't ask Liam to step up in a totally honest way, giving his own personally valid perspective on something, and...
