Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
Drinking the ipa now. You're right, tastes fantastic. If this was here in 6 packs instead of a $9 bomber, I'd be thrilled. Had an IPA and Cali-Belgique this weekend and they drank good. Real good. If Stone IPA was less than or equal to $15.00 for a six pack, I wouldn't buy any other IPAs from the L...

Re: The Bellwoods Brewery Release Thread
Since Bellwoods takes up such a huge proportion of posts on that thread, why not give Bellwoods its own thread, and leave that one your mentioned for everything else?El Pinguino wrote:That's what the "New non-LCBO/TBS beer releases" thread is for....no?

Agreed You know how usually I'll pop into a thread like this and tell you all to look on the brightside and point out a couple of interesting things? Can't even muster it. Pretty dull. Mmm hmmm. Maybe the Epic beer will tempt me if I happen to see it...but that's about it. Ayinger's Marzen is the h...

I got fresh Vitus around March with the Ayinger Weizenbock.
What I am excited about is that last I checked, Summerhill has around 200+ bottles of Saison Dupont. A fresh shipment?

I can give you St. Ambroise Vintage Ale (2013 & 2012) but I won't be able to make it down until mid-late July.

Re: Random Reviews
Bar Towellers (and Towelletes), I am looking for something malty this evening from the LCBO. A nice malt-forward local beer with some thickness and creaminess. Maybe something along the lines of Bell City's Eureka? I don't know about local options, I only really buy from Bellwoods when I want local...

Re: Pilsner Urquell (Brown Bottle)
The brown bottles at summerhill and crossroads each had a bottling date in mid May, so just over a month old. The freshest cans I have found were canned on April 10. In my own comparison the bottle was much more complex with rich maltiness and a very dry and fresh tasting saaz finish. I had the bott...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
This batch of Orval was bottled Jan 2015. I returned 5 bottles of Orval dated June 27 2013 to the Brock/HWY2 LCBO in Pickering. They were cellared by me in the dark at 55f. I just like the 6 month Orva more. We need Gary to do an "Old Orval / Newer Orval Blend" thread. That would be the n...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO
I'd say yes, especially for these thin gruel, C-hop dominated varieties of "session IPA" that appear to be in vogue. None of them comes anywhere close to being as satisfying as a well made English-style bitter in the same ABV range, at least for my money. Trying to think of an Ontario exa...

I liked both BOYD 2014 and Skeleton Key when they were on tap in the winter... I don't know what happened.
If the Mikkeller Black is even worse, I don't know what to think.

Re: Worst Beers!
Opened my bottle of BOYD 2014 about a month ago. Maybe not the worst beer, but one of my biggest disappointments. Here're my notes: Looks syrupy and black. Reminds me of pu-erh tea mixed with a bit of engine oil. Looks like poison. Smells like cognac and strong roast, notes of peat. Tastes like ashe...
