Re: GS Dortmunder

I keep asking myself: “is the Godspeed Dortmunder the best beer in the cit y right now?” I have a hard time not answering: “Yes, yes it is!” We are indeed lucky to have such a great brewer and brewery here. The Dortmunder and Kölsch and Svetly Lezak 10° have all been the BBITC at various times, for...

Sorry to hear that I had high hopes for the one in my cellar.

13444 Renaissance Tribute Barley Wine 2018 - 500mL — Just saw this one. Good price at ~$6.50, haven't tried it yet. And it's not viewable on LCBO.com.

Firestone Walker's Firestone Lager — Very cool to see FW on LCBO shelves. I was really in the mood for a good lager, this pours a nice deep yellow, but is otherwise rather bland. Canned in October.
De Moersleutel Rusty — Very satisfying imperial brown ale.

I used to be a huge fan of the Creemore Alt. Loved that beer so much.
They killed all the good ones a while back, around the time they re-branded. I especially miss the Kellerbier.

Yes and you can add the shipping-restricted items to a cart for delivery, it's a bit confusing especially if using a mobile device. They ended up sending me some shipping-restricted stouts to Toronto.

Vox Populi Double Fruit Punch IPA — Hit shelves recently, canned late Jan. Still packs a very nice hop punch. Reminds me of a heavier Fat Tug. Fatter Tug? Blood Brothers Captain Howdy — This is one heck of a tasty dessert stout. Coconut and hazelnut working wonders. A bit under carbonated but well w...

Re: Ontario will allow restaurants to sell takeout liquor, wine and beer

Long overdue, but seems like a token gesture right now. How much revenue is a newly restricted "take-out only" establishment going to make from this? Will they be charging bar/resto prices for take out beer? I'd be interested if places like Volo liquidated their cellar though.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

I recall a Hafis employee told me Bellwoods initially charged the same price for canned products that were previously bottled, but soon reduced them by 25¢ apiece.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Dupont Monk's Stout — I'd more accurately call this a dark saison. It's seems like they used the same saison yeast, but with dark malt. It is super carbonated and would do well in a chalice and benefits from agitation in the glass. It hits the dark chocolate, dry, bitter notes of a good Irish stout ...

Hanssens Oude Gueuze — Less carbonated than other lambics (same with Hanssens Kriek) but this is one fine gueuze. Possibly the most intense aroma I've experienced in this style funky sweet lemons and apples, oak. Really good stuff here.

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

LCBO has switched to some flimsy cardboard 6-pack carriers. Introducing them was a good idea (10+ years too late) but please be careful. These new flimsy carriers do not support the weight of 6 beers, the handle will fail under the weight. I sent a sharply-worded email to the LCBO customer service a...
