I liked the Lady Stav, but I really got the feeling that it would be much better with a bit of age on it. Ditto for the barley wine whose name I have forgotten.

I enjoyed the Ryes Up, but it was the last thing I tried. I was enjoying everything by that point.

I have to say, beyond the obviously excellent double tempest and the verticals of tempest, I was really impressed by the other taps at this event. The Pilsner was very good, and I really liked the peppercorn saison. Amsterdam have stepped up their game hugely in the last couple of years. Good on them.

Looks like the flights are 3 tempests and a double. 5 oz each, pretty good for 12$

Brooklyn tavern

New spot in Leslieville, I went to their soft open last night. Nice spot. Tastefully done, comfortable and a little bit classy. Food is better better han average pub grub, it's a place you could take a date if you wanted. Beer list was all craft, the taps were mostly mill St. and Wellington, includi...

Squeaky, I might be wrong, or thinking of something else, but I'm pretty sure Iain told me this Lady Stavoren is made with different hops (Nelson Sauvin this time, don't know what it was last time). It definitely tasted different to me when I had it at the BrewHouse a few nights ago. edit: Still ta...

I had to renew my driver's license a couple of weeks ago. I've had my fill of waiting in line to pay 60$. I haven't had my fill of the double tempest though, which is excellent. I'm also looking forward to getting a glass of a couple of the other ones I missed. Especially Lady Stav, which I want to ...

Another friend of mine was there a couple weeks ago and he reported the same thing about the prices. Not only was it very cheap, but he also got freebies thrown in. Either they're trying to build the brand loyalty a bit because they're new, or they're under orders to reward the beer geeks.

Station Ho.st

http://stationhost.ca/ I checked out Hopfesntark's new drinking hall last week when I was in town for a Habs game. I have to say, I loved it. Laid-back atmosphere, fun crowd, music not blaring so you can actually have a conversation, and most importantly lots and lots of Hopfesntark stuff on tap. I ...
