The Hart and Thistle is a must for any beer lover. There is always something amazing to try. If you are in the Wolfville area drop by Sea Level Brewing. Randy Lawrence is a nice guy brewing good beer.

Excuse my ingnorance (or perhaps just a blank mind at the moment). What is NLC?

I sent an email to the NLC asking "What does the NLC recommend we drink for International IPA Day?"
I recieved this predictable response.
"I recognize that our selection of IPA's is limited (Keith's IPA being our main brand of this style)"
Limited? Non-existent!

I enjoy Duvel so when I saw 'Navigator of Holland' at the Beer Store in Stratford I thought I would give it a try. Higher alcohol beer from a country that is a neighbor to Belgium, might be good. Ewwwwww!

When I was in the Czech Republic last year we were in a small town looking for Pivovar Matuska http://www.pivovarmatuska.cz/ We never found the brewery but the local sports pub at the soccer pitch sold us two 1.5 litre fruit juice bottles of the beer straight from the taps. He emptied the remaining ...

Nash had a 1066 (theoretical) ibu brew at the Hart and Thistle in Halifax back in May. I bet it was fantastic. http://hartandthistle.blogspot.com/2011/05/hop-mess-monster-v20-impa.html I had a couple of glasses of the original Hop Mess Monster. 'Only' 533 ibu :D It was one of the best beers I have e...

Everything seemed to be set up ok but it would be nice if they put beer styles next to the beers especially in the petit pubs, my wife was getting pissy that I kept stealing her phone to find out about beers on the rating sites. The Petit pubs had a binder at the end of the counter with a descripti...

I'll be there Wednesday and Thursday. Going home Friday. The hotels are too damn expensive on Friday and Saturday. A lot of Formula 1 gouging going on. The beer list looks impressive. I am curious about a lot of the Belgians. A friend recommended the Cantillion Rose de Gambrinus and the Rodenbach Gr...

I really think the sprawling web of rules - as these pertain to individuals traveling with a case of wine or beer - is more just to 'have something over us' than to rigorously enforce penalties. As Canadians we are just made to FEEL that it's somehow "wrong" without any real criminality t...

I just returned from a week in Florida. I visited a few good beer spots in the Orlando area. As mentioned above, Knightly Spirits on South Orange Blossom Trail is THE best bottle shop I have ever been too. Great selection of American micros. But there are also some Nogne O, Mikkeller, Baladin (Italy...
