Re: Beer Coming to Grocery Stores?

Throw me a life line here. With all of the restrictions that have been reported, could a store (a mythical store that wanted to differentiate itself), stock tall boys, six packs, singles, of interesting beer from Ontario that wasn't available in the lcbo/TBS? Also, if this were to happen, and it was...

Collingwood Fireside ESB

Really enjoyed this on tap at Trinity Commons. First beer I've had from this brewery so no idea if this similar to other offerings. Right in the middle of the style, copper colour, small off white head. Typical caramel malts but I thought the balance with the hops was a bit more North American than ...

Re: Habits to be nano brewing

Very intrigued by this. I am still in the swallow end with my knowledge of Saisons but I find they are a natural with food pairings. Especially rich food. I will have to come check this out.

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

Unfortunately, I was left a bit underwhelmed. I had mistakenly thought this was all about Ontario Craft beer and getting all Ontario craft beer SKUs in one place. So take these complaints as made through that lens. First, I was surprised that they still had beer at the north side doors. When you wal...

Great news, I enjoy the Amsterdam wet hop too (I"m assuming that will be coming). A consulation prize for the end of summer.

Re: AFT Kitchen and Bar at Broadview

Checked out this place on Saturday. Overall I thought the experience was good. For the details: Beer: I was expecting a better selection as the bar was being discussed on this forum. Having said that, I did get a seasonal Wellington Wheat beer that I had never tried before. I had been hoping for a d...

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

I was at Summerhill on the weekend and I didn't get the impression that the shop was near ready. They did at least have people working there. I also noticed that they had moved some of the beer stock away from the north side doors and closer to where the new space was. That I can't remember what was...

Re: The Craft Brasserie & Grille

I had a very good visit here last night. I definitely benefited from having the bar manager Matt cover our table. He certainly knew his stuff and was impressed when after a few questions about what types of beers I like, suggested the Clifford Porter. All beers we had were in good condition. He was ...

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

Exciting, I thought they had promised all Ont. Craft beer SKUS. Which would have been pretty good anyway as I believe there are small breweries that only distribute to a few LCBOs near them.

Let's hope I can get in the door with all the Sleeman products piled up.

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

Very good. Even though they will not carry unique product, I've grown tired of trying to find my favorite products. For example, really enjoying Lone Pine IPA and was suprised at how hard it was to find (I know Drinkvine) outside of Laird. Wrong thread but I was in Gravenhurst recently and was very ...

Re: Summerhill Growler/Craft Beer Destination Store

I haven't been to summerhill all summer. Is there any action in the old Timothy's shop to suggest that this is on track for an August opening?

Re: Duggans and their beer

I always liked the porter that he had at the old location. It wasn't on at the new brewpub. I don't think I'd use the term substandard but it's generally pretty safe, middle of the road styles and interpretations.

Maybe almost right.

It seems the operating group Beer Barons controls both brands. I was at Sauce on the Danforth and was told that Thornbury was going to be the branding going forward.

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

Thornbury has bought King Brewery. I believe that this could be a rebrand of King Pilsner.
