Re: King Taps - First Canadian Place

Told that they have started training of staff but license is tied to seats on the patio and patio isn't ready yet and that training is a like 4 weeks of work. There is also the Toronto Beer Exchange opening nearby and they will not open at the same time. Sooooo..... it's a secret but late June?

Re: Any Ontario "nitro" stouts or esb's out there?

I think you're right. I've had some great porters on Nitro (Hey Porter at Club 3030 and Clifford Porter at Craft Brassiere). It was just the preference of the bar manager to hock them up that way.

Re: Thoughts on the Wicked Weed news?

I have never tried their beer so I have no stake in this fight. I was thinking about Goose Island the other day. I have probably had a pint around town in bars with bad tap lists but I haven't bought any Goose Island in a long time. The reason, better local options that I enjoyed more and was willin...

Re: Muddy York Brewing

Thanks for the info, with the name Conan I found this description:
The general description of the yeast is appealing, mostly clean, but with a citrusy/apricot character.
So the yeast does have some impact on the aromatics but I had thought it was all hops. Learnt something new

Re: Stack Brewing

It's an interesting case study of what you need to do to make a business work. I have eaten out at a few Sudbury restaurants and none of them carry any of the Stack beer I reviewed. It was all cream ales and other beers that don't taste like much. Not sure how big of a program they have for more int...

Re: Rorschach Brewing Company

I went on their opening weekend. A couple of thoughts and reviews of the beer. Didn't have any food and the service was still working out the kinks which is to be expected for a new restaurant so for those elements, go check it out yourself. 1) They have a lot of fermenters etc. And the beer list wa...

Stack Brewing

I got a bunch of their beers recently and I thought I'd post some mini reviews to give people an idea about what they brew. I've been working through them over a month so I would not consider these super on point but rather my impressions of the beer. I'll run through from best to my least favorite....

Re: Muddy York Brewing

I got an email mentioning they were releasing an NEIPA. I liked Left Field's Laser Show a lot so I'm excited to try this. For people more knowledgeable than me, is the main point about this style variation the yeast used? I didn't get a yeast taste so I'm assuming that this more about hop particle r...

Re: Bench Brewery

If you're into that style, check out the Wrigley Pale Ale at Left Field. It's good and you know it's fresh if you can find it in their bottle shop.

Re: General LCBO Debate & Discussion Thread

Another vote for Clutch. It is excellent and in far too few LCBOs. It seems to be only in stores that get brewery features etc. in my area. (east)

Muddy York Brewing

Can't believe there isn't a thread already so please feel free to move if my search missed it. I'm really enjoying this brewery. I find that it does a solid job at a bunch of diverse styles. They have recently expanded and I'm seeing more variety at the bottle shop on a consistent basis. Range of st...

Re: Common Good Beer Co.

I have now tried 2 of the beers. I got a growler of the APA. Well worth the $9. Nothing special at all but it was fun to bring to the party and share. I also got one of each of the brown ale, IPA, Dry Hopped Belgian and Socialble Pilsner. Have only had the brown ale. I was sitting at a sunny window ...

Re: Who makes a good porter?

Glad to see this thread getting a bump. Stranger than Fiction is still solid but I just haven't had a chance to have a Hey Porter in a long time. Now I'd have to include Muddy York Porter to the top 3. It's great, and seems to have hit a recent high note after being solid for the last year. I finall...
