I'm heading to Detroit next Thursday. Plan is Slow's for lunch once I cross the border, head to Merchant's, then going to a Founders beer dinner at Shark Club in Howell (both CBS and KBS on tap!). Is there anywhere else on that general route I should hit?

I enjoyed this and pretty much agree with what you wrote. The bartender at C'est What told me port was added.

Thinking about the beer store I am surprised that the two major players that own it, are able to place nice with each other long enough to keep the beer store running as well as it does. I mean how do they agree on the prices of Canadian vs. the prices of Blue, and how do they decide who gets the p...

I didn't see any Nugget Nector at Premier on Monday (maybe more was in back though?). I bought it at Village Beer (had it for growlers and bottles), plus saw a couple 6 packs at Wegman's on Alberta.

Picked up Hoptimum at Premier. Tried it last night and loved it.

I'm glad I went yesterday. I hadn't tried the 8 and 12 before and they were both awesome. It probably didn't help me in my basketball game later that evening, but I don't get to have Westys everyday.

My favourite place in Chicago when I was there in May was The Publican. http://thepublicanrestaurant.com/ The menu is very adventurous, so if you like offal/charcuterie type food to go along with a great beer lsit, it is an excellent place to visit. If you do plan to go, make a reservation before th...

I should have bought more than just 1 bottle of this when I had the chance. Had this last night and it was easily the best of the 5.

I was here last week. Food was pretty good (I had the stew made with Devil's Pale Ale) and a nice enough beer list (already posted in thread). If I lived closer, I could see going there more often.

Yeah, a serious waste of time & money... especially for the small breweries that use printed bottles. On the other hand, could this be a sign that people are starting to recognize beer as a food product? Why don't they go all the way and enforce a full ingredient listing? Personally, I'd love t...

I got that email too. Then I got a second email just to clarify that I really " did not " win one. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound! Not that I'm in any way upset. Don't get me wrong, it would have been neat to snag a bottle, but it's not really winning when you have to pay to get you...

I love this line: "This is about, 'How do I feed my children at dinner safely?'" She's right though, how are you supposed to know which beer to give your small child with celiac disease if there aren't proper warning labels on the beer? New Grist should put a label on their beer saying, &q...

I noticed this place for the first time on Friday and I meant to check this out Saturday as it's only about a five minute walk from my place. There really is no where in the Cabbagetown area that I have noticed that has a good beer selection. Hopefully this place fits the bill! House on Parliament ...

Canadian is a local beer in Montreal. Montreal is where MolsonCoors is headquartered. The brewery there has been in operation since Molsons was founded in the late 1700s. You made that poor waiter look like an idiot over a decision his employer made that he has no say in. I have to admit, I had to ...

I'm supposed to be visiting a friend down in St. Catherines within the next week or two so I'm hoping to knock the Merchant Ale House off the list. I see from a recent review they have a dark mild, which is a style that has been growing on me. That may be my review, unless someone else has reviewed...
