...This is why something like the OCB store concept is so vital, where the brewery's could launch beers collaboratively without being forced into more LCBO locations than they can supply, and ensure a fresh product reaches the customer. Indeed. We had a discussion on that idea: http://www.bartowel....

I very much enjoyed the Aventinus Ice Bock over the holidays. My family couldn't understand why I was the really jolly guy at the Christmas dinner : the abv provided an explanation. :)

Yesterday at Chapters I picked up The Naked Pint: An unadulterated Guide to Craft Beer. There's 30% off sale on right now, so I paid $17.

It's an enjoyable read, both for newbies like me and for you experts!

Details here.

The site says the growler kit will include "all the equipment required to brew your own quality craft beer." A thermometer is included.

I'm too new to know what else is missing. Maybe experienced Bar Towel home brewers can ask them all the right questions?

Yes, we watched it. I packed it in before the rest of the family unit. We were the only idiots on the street. :D

The Brewer's Market?

Wondering if you folks have heard about the launch of The Brewers Market? I just saw it on Facebook, via a post from Beerology.

I am interested in home brewing and this looks interesting for a newbie like me. Thoughts?

(This is not a troll post: I am in no way affiliated with the company!)

The event was lots of fun. Live music, great food, and Santa made a surprise appearance. The Winter Ale was flowing and seemed to be the crowd favourite. I think it took a lot of guts for GLB to serve "The Polish Sandwich" beer: for most of us it was Kielbassa-in-a-glass! Thank you, Great ...

Brew Masters on Discovery Channel (USA)

Tonight is the launch of Brew Masters , a series on Discovery. Sam Calagione, owner of Dogfish Head, is the on-camera focus, who threads together the various themes of each episode. Great story about the show in today's New York Times. Check it out here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/21/arts/televi...

A beer run to Buffalo: NAFTA?

A recent chat with bartowellers on what's available in Buffalo has got me planning a day trip Stateside. Since I'll be out of the country for less than 48 hours, no personal exemption kicks in for alcohol purchases. But, perhaps the duty-free exemption under NAFTA might apply? Products made in the U...

Thanks, Greg. I have not been to a winter event, or been into the brewery so I'm now better informed!

Re: Corks Beer and Wine Bar - at Longo's?!?

Yesterday, I attended a media tour of the massive new Longo's flagship store in Maple Leaf Square (new condo & retail development next to the ACC), and in addition to being one of the best grocery stores I've ever seen both in terms of design and selection, I was pleased to discover that they h...

Greg, I wonder if it's one of those weird scenarios when people assume the event is so popular they don't try to get tickets...believing the event is already sold out. Also wonder if the price had anything to do with lack of sales.

TBW at the Amstersdam

I saw the post on Facebook, and went to the Amsterdam brewery late this afternoon, to sample the just released Oktoberfest lager. A little hint of smokiness, fairly dark, lots of body. Deelish! A terrific lager, and accompanied by some awesome smoked meat from Caplansky's deli, as well as bbq'd saus...
