I have always really liked what I have tried at Pepperwoods ( and more at Miller's Bistro when they were around ) but I have been turned off by the way they did absolutely nothing to promote the fact that they made their own beer. Several times at Pepperwoods I asked for whatever had been announced ...

I'd love to make it to some of these. Tues, Wed and Thursday nights my wife works and my daughter and I are on our own. Although she has been to Great Lakes with me to buy beer and for a Saturday afternoon charity BBQ event, I don't think it is wise to take her to a cask event. If the nights ever ge...

Mmmmm Tin Whistle! Tin Whistle Rattlesnake was one of the first things I tried that made me realize there is beer out there that is better than the macro brewed crud I had been drinking up till then. I've not heard much mentionof them in Ontario. Just hearing the name brings back good memories! Enjo...

Many years ago I worked at a large hotel in Banff and like everyone else in the staff accomodations I had crazy shifts that were all over the place. At any given moment someone in my building was just getting off their shift on "Friday night". I had trouble getting to sleep with the fact t...

Years ago I bought a sixer of Labatt's Lager 'N' Lime in Calgary. It was vile! I haven't seen it anywhere since ( I haven't exactly been looking very hard though... ). Based on the Labatt version there is little chance I would ever try the Bud offering but I hate the idea of writing something off th...

Seems like a good deal. $50 for the tickets for the Girls event or $45 for the regular addmission. Comes with entrance throught VIP gate, better washrooms and an extra pint for only $5 more. Heck I would have paid $5 to skip the giant line up to get in last year. It is only a good deal if you get ov...

I love a well balanced brew most of all but if it was one or the other I'd pick the hops. I read once that our sense of taste develops as we age. As children we aren't able to taste the full range of flavours. Sweet is the first taste to come in. I can't imagine enjoying the very sugary treats I use...

Just brought home a 8 pack from Crossroads LCBO (401 & Weston ). Quite a few left in the display they had set up for it but none in the cooler. I wanted to get a single regular size can of almost any beer to make a beer can chicken with but the cashier told me they don't sell the one can of Bud ...

I've found the PC lager to be quite quaffable. The Becks is alright but I agree it is too expensive. What is the justification for the high price of near beer? Since it doesn't have to conform to Ontario's alcohol pricing rules I would think it could be sold for a price close to that of a case of pop.

Heritage River Keeper

I was in the Ottawa Valley for a short holiday and had a chance to try some Heritage Premium Lager and River Keeper. I think they are the same recipe and I enjoyed both. The River Keeper supports conservation of the Ottawa River ( my personal playground as a kid ). At least I think it does, I can't ...

There is no doubt that unions are a mixed blessing. In the recent years they appear to have taken their wages and benefits to levels that appear unreasonable to many of us but you can bet that if they were all gone we'd be working 60 hours weeks for peanuts . What proportion of the workforce do you...

the cask or even beer of month not always there, despite announcements, or even staff telling me on phone so fellow BTs should not be disapointed Pretty much sums up my few trips to Pepperwoods. I stopped in a few times coming back from Hamilton but it is too hit and miss to warranty stopping there.
