Re: Talk or Action?
Press conference at 11am today. The two things I'm most curious about is if the pricing system will remain uniform (which I suspect so) and if it will be easier to import (which I suspect not). Ultimately I'm totally fine with more shopping options, but I don't think we'll see significant changes su...

Re: Recruiting back to the Bar Towel
I'm pleased to report that in 2023 we had the most # of posts since 2020, easily topping the annual post counts from '21 and '22. Maybe our strategy to bring some folks back worked, maybe some folks are wandering back due to Twitter/X's seeming steady decline. No matter what, we'll still keep the be...

Re: Talk or Action?
Announcement coming on Thursday: Three sources in the industry say the key changes include: - Allowing all corner stores and any gas stations that sell food to sell beer, wine, cider and ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages, such as seltzers or premixed cocktails (collectively known as RTDs). - Allowi...

Re: Talk or Action?
Weird.. It's not even election time, yet. Maybe it's an attempt to distract from all the scandals. No doubt trying to put out something that will likely be broadly accepted (except for the usual teetotaler crowd. Plus, that Beer Store agreement expires in a year so perhaps there’s some kind of noti...

More on this in today's Globe (paywalled) - announcement coming next week. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-ontario-to-announce-plan-to-allow-beer-in-corner-stores/ A government source has told The Globe and Mail that late next week, Premier Doug Ford’s government will unveil a plan to...

What's Your Favourite Ontario West Coast IPA?
I realize that we've had WC IPA discussions within various threads before, but in light of the news that Sierra Nevada Pale Ale has been delisted at the LCBO I thought I'd start a fresh one. What are everyone's favourite West Coast IPA(s) in Ontario? After SNPA, I'd probably go with Mad Tom. Hoppy, ...

Re: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
I've confirmed with the LCBO that SNPA is delisted. Which is a major bummer as that was a regular purchase and hard to find local comparisons.

Re: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Last time I saw it was about six months back. There were eight or so on the shelf at my local BO. I took a chance and grabbed them. They turned out to be quite fresh. Interesting because I had just returned from the US and had been enjoying it on tap at my hotel bar, so I had a recent comparison on...

Re: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Does anyone know if Sierra Nevada Pale is still coming into Ontario? Limited stock at the LCBOs which suspiciously looks like leftovers. Von Terra's (their agent, at least they were the last time I heard) website is gone and no social posts for a few years. https://www.lcbo.com/en/storeinventory/?sk...

Re: Collective Arts
I think you are on to something. For a while now I've thought they should regroup to some of their core product, get it right and throw in some rotational seasonals and maybe the occasional collab. Every time I go to the LCBO I feel they have some other new novelty on offer. Maybe there was a time ...

Re: Indie Alehouse Stout Night - 10th Anniversary
Yeah, saw that on IG. Nice coup by Jay, and I also noticed that Indie did a collaboration with Goose Toronto which will also be pouring at Stout Night. Goose Toronto for its existence has been wanting to play alongside the other notable beer players in the city so good for them and Jay for doing this.

Re: Schooner Street Brewery
Definitely a major factor if they own the building and have other sources of income.
A neighbourhood brewery this is not!

(no offence to industrial park breweries of course!)

Re: Collective Arts
From a CA newsletter: The past 6 months of our Union Station Pop-Up have been absolutely amazing, but alas, all good things must come to an end. December 7th will mark our final day of operation in the space. I didn't mind the pop-up space and they had some decent $5 happy hour specials. A bit pricy...
