Two words: SPEED DIAL!

Even ordering online would be nice. Perhaps they might save some money by setting up a couple depots in urban centres where you could pick up your order, though I bet the government would find a way to screw that up.

hmmm... exploding in the warehouse...likely story. How many did you polish off before you came up with that excuse :D

I remember as a kid working in a grocery store how boxes of cookies and things would 'accidently break open' and have to be 'disposed of'.

I didn't even know there was the intermediate Don Valley Brewing Company. Any idea where it was located in Don Mills? Initially I thought it'd be odd to have a brewery around here... but realestate is cheaper (that's why I'm here), it's close to the DVP (quick to get downtown outside of rush hour) ...

I haven't lived in the west end for some time, but I do occasionally get back to Rhino. They have consistently (for years) been one of the best values for beer and food. Often I wonder how they pay their bills! It may not be fair to compare others to Rhino's prices, but they earned my loyalty when I...

Kudos and good luck to Jim. Brick was definitely my gateway. Back in the days as a poor student, Red Baron and the other overlooked Ontario brewery of the time, Northern, were the two options for something that tasted like real beer and we could afford. Formosa kept a decent beer alive for the budge...

Crannog Backhand of God Stout.

Very tasty Irish Stout, I hear it's a draught only brewery, so I guess we won't be finding any around Ontario. Look for it if you are in BC.

...Technically it was yesterday, but the fingers coudn't get to the keyboard.

Sitting in the back of my friend's office in Vancouver enjoying a Rogue Dry Hopped Red Ale. We did the 'kid in a candy store' thing so there will be some serious drinking tonight. Let's see, what else is on the list: Swan's Extra IPA RB Hop Goblin IPA Bear Nation Black Bear Stout Brooklyn Black Choc...

If you are passing through Vancouver, other than the haunts that have been talked about here, I can recomend a new stop I just found. There is an excellent beer and wine shop downtown on Seymour at Smithe called Viti. Brilliant selection and at least one fantastic staff member who really knew her st...

So here are some thoughts back from the front. 1. BC is still a good place to drink beer. :D 2. Spinnaker's and Swans in Victoria are both well worth the visit. The beer and food are great and the staff wear their passion for beer on both sleeves. Swans was out of a few I wanted to try but there wer...

Thai Chicken Noodle soup - the chile, cilantro and lime combine to kick your cold's ass like nothing else. Yes, or anything with lots of chile and garlic. The other possible strategy is to treat yourself so poorly that no virus would want to inhabit your body. Kind of a scorched earth strategy. Rem...

Steve, that's way too innovative for this province. If you want it to work, I suggest you don't tell anybody. As soon as the government finds out, they will shut it down.

Very nice - it takes all kinds to build a healthy ecosystem!

I bet the folks at the LCBO labs would lose their marbles trying to keep up with these experimental brews.

The Beer Store does not recycle. People recycle. The Beer Store is just a depot. It could be the Post Office for all we care; we'd take our empties there. Granting the Beer Store the additional contract to depot the LCBO's empties just sends more revenue their way. I've said it many times, I would l...

Believe me, Rob, I have asked many an uncomfortable question, but the situation remains but a mystery. I do believe, though, that it goes higher than the Board. Hmmm, the governance over alcohol is a provincial responsibility and the LCBO is the provinces appointed agent to apply the rule of law in...

I dropped by today. No better or no worse than most general LCBOs. Actually a bit better than the one it replaced as far a beer goes. The staff was creepy friendly and even knew a few things about what they were selling. I guess the training is fresh in their minds. I think it's great that they pick...
