The best thing they released imo, was Gigantic La Formidable and that isn't even their recipe.
Word on the street was that it is a pretty damn tasty beer

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

According to Goose Island's website, the Vanilla Rye has 35 IBU and uses only Columbus, which is a concentrated hop. Doesn't sound like a lot of hop. Are they going for something really sweet? Doesn't sound like a flavour profile I would usually go for, but I will make an exception.

Re: GTA Coffee

How is the cold brewing coming along? very good The cuban higher grade was outstanding, certainly among the top coffees we have enjoyed in our lives. Good hot, it was remarkable cold brewed: acid removed and a full flavorful, with a hint of tobacco. Greenbeanery must have run low in stock as it has...

Re:

Plowman's Ale: This tastes very English now, I recall an APA profile when it first came out but I like it much more now. It has a Maris Otter-type richness and some flowery hop whether of Albion or not I don't know, but it's Kentish in style. Burton Pale Ale was never better in that the hop and mal...

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

I will be pleasantly surprised if these actually go on sale that Friday AM. I just heard that these failed lab testing and are being sent back to the States. The vanilla levels exceed Ontario liquor limits by .005 ppm Lol. I doubt the government could tell AB Inbev anything except "yes sir, no...

Re: GTA Coffee

I have tried Cuban coffee and I adore it. Not a big fan of the Green Beanery (It's operated by these folks ) for political reasons, but it's been available at Thomas Hinds (http://www.thomashinds.ca/) for ages. Unfortunately, last I checked you can only get it roasted and not nearly as fresh as the...

Re: LCBO Autumn & Halloween/Oktoberfest Beer Releases 2015

Did the Ayinger Octoberfest ever appear? As far as I can tell Ayinger Octoberfest never showed up. As well as the Epic Coffee & Fig Oatmeal stout. :( Ayinger Octoberfest arrived in September. The LCBO is waiting till next October to release it. They threw the cases of beer into lagering tanks a...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Kentucky Bastard (14.95/750) and 3 Minutes to Midnight (12/500) are a similar size and similar price point. Compare either of them to Dragon's Milk (7.95/650). I think its just the size of our breweries.

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I challenge any whisky nerd (esp Scotch) to come up with a bottle of equal quality to the Bellwoods beer, for less than $72! Scotch - Aberlour 12YO @ 59.95 Irish - Redbreast @ 69.95 American - Blanton's Original @ 64.90 Canadian - Alberta Premium Dark Horse @ 27.95 [until Nov. 8th] That was easy. ;...

Re: LCBO - Fresh Stock Locator

Anchor Steam and Liberty Ale are both out with 9 2017 expiry dates. They are less than two months old, and you can find them refrigerated. This is the best time to re-assess these beers for anyone interested in their cultural importance. I've had liberty a dozen or more times, but this is the first ...

from what i understand: sourness is from lack of contact time with water and grind i.e. you pour too fast. bitterness/astringency is from too hot of water vegetal? no idea Sourness comes from under-extraction, bitterness from over-extraction. Temperature and time are two variables but there are man...

Re: Cask Days 2015

Obviously not everything was amazing, and some brewers still don't know how/which beers to put in a cask, but overall pretty solid. so let's talk about this. what should and shouldn't go into casks? I'd normally say "IPAs", but i've had a killer APA/IPA before from Half Pints. it had perf...
