They had a great selection when I was there in September (Dogfish Head Bitches Brew!).

Thanks for all the tips everyone, I bought the Brooklyn Brew Shop kit for my first brew and am already planning on how I can expand to 3 or 5 gallon batches with a bit more investment. My kit didn't come with a hydrometer, but I'm wondering if I should really worry about that for a 1 gallon batch. ...

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I would go with the Ardbeg if I could get it in Newfoundland. But I can't. I'm going with the Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams. Dad always liked Glennfiddich, and this one is getting good reviews. It is $99. The same price as most places in Canada. Usually liquor (and be...

Selection of Scotch whisky is a little lacking looking at the NLC website. Best I could see was Glenrothes 1995 for around $90.00. Ah, but NS has some great stuff. Including Ardbeg 10 year  Nova Scotia has the Ardbeg and the interesting Penderyn. It may be time to go to Halifax for a few at t...

Having a bit more info to go on would help a little; is there a preference of whisky/whiskey that he enjoys, or is he open to any style/flavouring? There's a world of difference from drinking an Ardbeg/Springbank to something along the lines of a Glenrothes, Glenfiddich, Glenfarclas, Dalwhinnie etc...

Scotch whiskey recommendation?
My father is a Scotch whiskey lover. For the past three years since he turned 70 I have given him a good bottle of Single malt for his birthday. Last year it was a bottle of Highland Park 15 year old ($89 here in Newfoundland). Any of you people with good beer tastes like Scotch? What would you reco...

Funny how we assume a Christmas beer has to taste like a fruitcake. Actually, I kind of find it tacky. Yes there is a tradition of taking all your valuable larder items in the middle of winter and rolling them into one celebratory desert, but really, can't a celebratory beer just taste like a good ...

We're heading down to Fla. in a couple weeks. I might only be able to hit one place for beers ... I'll be in Tampa, should I hit Cigar City OR stick with Knightly Spirits when I'm in Orlando? Most of the regular Cigar City beers are available at Knightly Spirits. The Cigar City Taproom has one-offs...

I am in Orlando now. Total Wine and More in the Millenia Plaza has a great selection of beers. Probably more than Knightly Spirits. http://www.totalwine.com/ There is a surprising variety of beer available at Epcot. The Japanese pavilion at Epcot has several micro brews from Japan, but at a crazy pr...

New beers at the NLC (newspaper article)
As with a lot of newspaper stories, the comment section is the best part. The NLC gets lambasted in the comments.

Sherbrooke Liquor hits 1000 beer mark!
I have been there several times. Its not 1000 listings of crap lager from every country in the world either (I'm looking at you LCBO and NLC). Sherbrooke carries a lot of fantastic beer. I would love to try that 'Big Kahuna'. "Sour ale aged in oak whiskey barrels with cherries" I'll bet th...
