Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
And as discussed before, sometimes new releases slip through the cracks, so imagine my delight when I stumbled upon Ayinger Celebrator today. Had no idea it was returning but since it's one of my favourite doppelbocks, and all around beers, I'm happy to see it. I will also add, strictly for informat...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Yes it's the 'double' NE version. I'm having another one now, and I'm not picking up on the sweetness mentioned. And I'm sensitive to that. I much prefer my beers quite dry. This certainly doesn't have the offensive treacle notes of some Scotch ales or dopplebocks, if that's what you are describing...

Re: What're you drinking right now?
Robohop. Big bold and beautiful. I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords. I had one last night as well. I found it really sweet, almost getting into TIPA territory. It’s been going more and more this way the past couple versions that I’ve had. It’s a long long way from the big bitter bastard tha...

Re: Happy Holidays!
That looks like Zum Flaucher. Such a beautiful setting, I'd love to have something like that here. For sure that would be great here - the simple genius of trees to shade the beer, along with perfect snacks. It's really not far from where my Aunt and Uncle now live, on Grünwalder Straße 3-4 km away...

Re: I think we should be getting ready for a hop shock
Interestingly I've been noticing more nitro beers than I've ever seen as of late, seems everyone is jumping on the trend. I've also been noticing a lot of beers seem more watery these days, lacking mouthfeel. My friend had a theory that brewers are cutting back on malt to offset costs, and nitro mig...

Damn that is indeed weird; almost comes across as something from a dark humour/satire film or something. Act fast, our owner has died sale is on now!
At least break it into two posts... yeesh.

This is a big one. Might warrant a new thread, but posting here for now.

Had the Third Moon Gordie Mortis. Quite nice, came across as an amped up Canuck with that Third Moon presentation; a bit fuller, hazier, lots of aromatic hops. Didn't get the GLB side of the collaboration though (Lacus Mortis), curious if anyone tried both.

Re: Ontario Brewing Awards 2021
While I do agree with a lot of what you're saying and generally find the OBA's to be not the best representation of quality in the province, Especially given the conspicuous absence of so many trendy/popular Ontario breweries I do question the last paragraph you wrote. I'm just curious if you've ta...

Re: Ontario Brewing Awards 2021
I'm sure there are many breweries out there, especially ones that don't get the kind of social media & writer love as others do, which still believe awards shows are a way to break through. As long as those breweries exist, awards shows will still continue as they'll pay for their entries. And ...

Re: Ontario Brewing Awards 2021
I tend to wonder how relevant these sorts of competitions are these days, especially with many breweries not entering and the sheer volume of beer that is released. With the democratization of information and opinions it seems that the formal critical role is increasingly replaced with community sou...
