Re: Bellwoods Brewery

I''m not a brewer but the price is understandable. These DOUBLE barrel releases have spent like 18-26 months sitting in barrels adding costs related to storage and transfer while compounding the risk of spoilage. All while losing liquid volume to evaporation. Yup it's expensive but justified IMO. T...

Re: Bellwoods Brewery

Anyone else think Bellwoods is out to lunch with their pricing these days? The latest releases for BOYD and Skeleton Key are $20/btl! That's still a 500ml bottle btw. I used to buy Bellwoods all the time but they've lost me with these crazy high prices for their barrel aged releases. these should b...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

So I heard through the grapevine that Orval has shown up in the LCBO warehouse, but it's not listed yet. I haven't seen any news regarding the LCBO bringing it back, so curious if anyone else has heard anything about this? There's apparently 20k bottles, which seems like a lot for a private order. ...

Re: Storm Stayed

Storm Stayed has announced a mixed 24-pack to celebrate their third anniversary. https://www.canadianbeernews.com/2020/12/07/storm-stayed-brewing-releases-3-year-anniversary-box/ I was a little excited at first, but am hesitating because of the prices. $100 + $15 shipping is about $4.80 per can, an...

Re: Wellington

I believe breweries that have multiple sites/stores can sell beer from either site in both stores. For instance, Bellwoods sells all their labels at both Hafis and Ossington, even though most production happens at Hafis. I think it's like this: If you have a brewery, you can get a on-site store whe...

Re: Wellington

Really? What happened to NB's brewery? Burlington brewery hasn’t made the retail stuff for years due to capacity. They had that joint brewery with Collective for years and when that fell through they ended up at Wellington. They have retail sales a the Burlington location. How do they get around th...

Re: Modern trends

So over the last few years the "trends" seem to have been IPAs, NEIPAs, and then starting last year, everyone seemed to have some type of sour. This year? By my observation, there have been quite a few "Mexican Lagers" introduced. Not judging, but definitely not as exciting for ...

Re: red tape in New Brunswick

anyone with a tied house licence can sell packaged beer from their restaurant correct, but notice that the breweries doing this have to include some food (same for bars/restaurants)* i.e. a bag of chips with the beer from another brewery and you're good to go yes, the same rules apply for both rest...

Re: red tape in New Brunswick

Here is a good news story on Canadian Beer News about red tape being peeled off, albeit in a pilot program. This would be great in Ontario. New Brunswick Craft Alcohol Makers Now Allowed to Sell Each Other’s Products this in ontario would be huge How is it that some Ontario breweries seem to be sel...
