Samples are a touchy aspect in many pubs about town -- some of the locals have ... hmmm ... abused the goodwill of many bartenders by ordering up samples, scribbling notes, and splitting. No tip. No thank yous. No real order. And, at the end of the day, samples are discretionary. Perhaps the barten...

I have nothing to comment on volo anymore, I'll keep going as I've stated.

I think my repeated posting is more to do w/ people like you calling me "petty". Not sure why you have to keep getting personal about it.

I don't know about you, but I don't think it would rub you the right way if someone started calling you names on here.

- Re: Samples. I received at least one pour of the sour beers in a “taster” sized glass. That’s just what they poured it in. Are you sure that’s not what was going on for other people rather than some special “privileged” taster? - Re: portion sizes. Most beer events I’ve been to have wildly fluctu...

Let's just agree to disagree, you see my model as being flawed, I see it as valid. You don't have to belittle my points by making them seem unrealistic. I don't think comparing reward programs w/ corporate companies is comparable with restaurants/bars. I thought I explained why complaining in the mo...

To be fair to aser, he just said he would prefer if the perks were doled out a bit more discreetly. No one likes to pay the same dollar amount as the next person for the same thing and get less. Well, that's exactly it, but people are quick to jump to conclusion and ignore the points I made. They j...

Let me rephrase it, people in the clique got double the portion. Normal people got 1/3 of a full pint glass, special treatment people got 2/3 of a full pint glass (ie. close to double of what a normal person got). Tasters weren't for wait staff, it was for people coming up to the bar. Multiple sets ...

Volo's inconsistent service

Look, I understand Volo's place in Toronto's pecking order. They're sourcing beers that can't be found elsewhere in the city. Yes, their pricing is high, you're paying a premium for the exclusivity. I understand and am happy to pay it for things I can't get elsewhere. However...... I find the servic...

To be honest, this was one of the best local brews I've had last year. Surprised the hell out of me. I hope the recipe remains similar to last year.

Ended up at Hart & Thistle, the food there was meh overall, but the beer way exceeded my expectations. They had two of their own brews available, a saison and an APA. Both were excellent, with the apa slightly better, more hoppy than I expected, might as well have been an IPA. Can't remember the...

So I asked the folks at Peluso and also Les Delires du Terroir, both said they won't be getting any Trou Du Diable until Oct/Nov. Guy at Peluso said supply is limited in the summer and is used up all at the brewery or sold to pubs. Nothing to spare for bottling to stores out of the immediate Shawnig...

thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, I won't have the luxury to go too far out of the way as I'm on a road trip to the east coast with 8 people (2 cars). I'm already requesting a stop in MTL for lunch and then a run to a deppaneur, don't want to push my luck any further than that.

Trou du diable bottles in MTL?

On my road trip to the east coast, I'll be driving through Quebec, stopping off for lunch and maybe nick a quick pint at Vices et Versa. There are two deppaneurs (Rahman!) nearby that has quite the selection of beers, and I generally leave happy, except for the lack of Trou Du Diable. Anybody know a...
