Notes on a Beermat
Just found this book at chapters for $5.99. Haven't read it yet, but any beer book for under 10 bucks usually finds a home in my library!

Griffon Brown Ale
I was at "The Butlers Pantry", a restaurant on Queen near Bathurst, and was heartened to see four craft beers on tap, one being Griffon Brown Ale. It's availabe by the pint or pitcher (good price as well). As I was with a small party, we ended sharing a few pitchers of the Brown ale, and e...

Interesting....Blond/golden/sparkling ales (Labatt 50, Molson Export, perhaps more recently Mill St. Stock Ale) and possibly maple ales....it's always neat to know how Canada has contributed to an aspect of daily life (well, daily in my case!)! As to the article, hopefully the OCB is also aware of t...

Does the World's Biggest Bookstore have that good a selection of beer related books? Next time I'm down that way I'll be sure to have a look. My local chapters usually has a few, but they're either trendy books (light on the details) or the usual suspects (ie. Jackson, Beaumont, etc.). Are they list...

I have to admit I've read most posts on this site, but have contributed few messages (as evident to the tally to the left). Where do you get the time? Anyway, this site hosts a great forum and the information is greatly appreciated - you can really get a sense of our local beer world! I've just star...

At least the discount beer won the competition. If nothing else, it may make people realize that they are wasting their money on advertising budgets for molson and labatts. Though I'm sure only investors in breweries and/or beer geeks may have read the article (or cared)!!!! Off topic, does Canada h...

I found the following link (sorry for the lack of sophistication):

Interestingly enough, this 2002 article goes on to say that Denison's helles and Steamwhistle's pilser both use the same yeast strain.

But the predominant impression is of an intense sweetness. This beer is too sweet for my personal taste I couldn't agree more. I could only finish about half the glass before I gave up - never thought of blending it with something else though. Personally, I don't like my beer too sweet as it feels ...
