Did an other half/veil/grimm IPA tasting with some friends south over the border. Veil has invaded my US top 5, at least for hoppy beers.

Re: Ransack the universe
Once you've had some of the better IPA being produced elsewhere Ransack kind of loses its luster. I like it when I can find it fresh (luckily almost never a problem as of late) but I'll usually pass it up over whichever Great Lakes Seasonal IPA is in the LCBO at the time.

There's some info on FB about the Goose Island/WNY relationship. Allegedly your final sentence could be more accurate than you realize.

You mean Mike Zigomanis and Luca Caputi haven't resulted in a windfall for Frank on dollarama-quality energy drinks? Say it ain't so!

Finally got my hands on some of The Juice. A bit thin but that's my only somewhat minor qualm about this one. Big flavour in the vein of what's happening in the North-Eastern United States.

Re: Beer Cellars
I just use cooler area of my basement (AKA Crawlspace) that sees virtually no light. Which is probably to say I'm storing beer rather than cellaring them.

Re: Barncat Artisan Ales, Cambridge
We are extremely excited to announce the release of our first sour beer. 'In the Beginning' is a sour golden ale aged in stainless for many moons with our house mixed culture, then re-fermented in the bottle. $10/750ml bottle (limit 6 per person) available at the brewery starting this Friday. Damn ...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS
The Leelanau is 15 or so bucks at the brewery, so the 18 bucks is actually a bit of a discount. Still, if I'm paying 18 bucks for a 375 ml bottle of anything it had better have brewed at 403 Hill Rd.
