Having a growler of "St John's Stout" from the Yellowbelly Brewery. :) The Yellowbelly doesn't normally sell the stout in growlers because it doesn't retain the lovely head it has on tap. Liam is very concerned about his beer being presented properly. But they sometimes do a one off for a ...

I had a pint of Murphy's Stout at the Halifax airport on my last stopover there. $9.95 for a pint of stout! :o I asked about local products hoping for a Propeller Porter. No luck. The bartender was a friendly guy and knew about the local beers but said they wouldn't sell well in his location. The gu...

I just tried my first Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock. Nice beer, but $13.99 for 750ml? I think most of the money has gone into a very fancy bottle and label. Rogue Chocolate Stout is better in my opinion, and about half the price.

This post is for your amusement only. The NLC here in Newfoundland has put out its Fall 08 "Occasions" magazine. They have seasonal drinks recommendations and in the "Autumn Beers" section they are suggesting "Ricard's Original White", "Heineken 5Litre Mini Keg&quo...

What an unbelievable story. The only reason a lot of tourists (like me) even know that the Distillery District exists is because of Mill Street. I always encourage friends and co-workers going to Toronto to visit the Mill Street Brewpub. The ones that do get there come back saying that they enjoyed ...

In Edmonton the Chateau Louis liquor store has a great beer selection. They stock a lot of Belgian beers. I bought a couple of bottles of Westmalle Dubbel there. Great stuff. The liquor store is in the Chateau Louis Hotel across from the Edmonton Municipal Airport.

I had a look at that Ratebeer list of beers in Newfoundland. A few updates, The Monty Python Holy Grail has been de-listed. I haven't seen the Storm Brewing Hemp in several years. The Wychwood Bah Humbug was here for December 2006, never to be seen again ( too bad, I liked that one). And repeating m...

I really can't think of much to drink when in Newfoundland, I just drink propeller, it's fairly available. I also steer clear of the screech. The NLC in all its wisdom, de-listed the Propeller beers spring 2007. I had a one man email campaign going but they don't want to hear it. They are wine merc...

Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest

I left this message on the K-W's Oktoberfest website. I wonder if they have forgotten about beer altogether? "I've searched your website but I can not find any reference to Bavarian or Oktoberfest beers being available at your "Oktoberfest". Beer is an important part of the Munich Okt...

Check out the "Premier Wines And Spirits" location not far from Rogues Roost. http://www.premierwineandspirits.ca/

The last time I was there they had a lot of great beer including my favorite, Rogue Chocolate Stout.
