Isn’t St. George being brewed by Robinson and not Banks? Or did Banks buy Robinson when they bought Hart? Regardless of who brews it, it’s still not as good as the original Dragon's Breath. Robinson and Hart had a joint marketing agreement in place for a while. That died when Hart died. Banks didn'...

Wasn't Dragon's Breath something Hart Brewing brewed once upon a time but then got into a legal dispute with a rather large Brewer somewhere in the states or somewhere over the use of the word "Dragon" in their beer. I seem to recall there was a lawsuit that eventually resulted in Hart's d...

Burgermeister, that was pretty good. Only one thing to point out is that wheat malt is actually malt and therefore does not contravene the German law of purity. I was under the impression that the original Rheinheitsgebot maintained that beer could only be made from Barley Malt, Hops, and water whi...

Re: I was watching beer TV.....

and they had a whole segment on the use of corn sugar (or in the case of Budweiser, rice) in beer to make it "lighter" and "more drinkable". They presented it as such an innovation in brewing. Am I wrong, or is the use of material like that purely a cost-cutting move? Is there e...

Re: Moosehead

To be fair, I think Moosehead is brewed under contract in Ontario, so the original maritime version has got to be better..... Don't think so. Moosehead has a distribution company here in Ontario (office in Mississauga). They bought the Imported Beer Company from Sleeman about 10 years ago, renamed ...

Yes D'Angelo brands just opened up a fair sized brewery up in Northern Ontario. From what I've seen, they are targetting the "value" market segment. In other words, they will probably be producing thousands of litres of bland fizzy yellow but really really cheap "beer" for the gu...

Nothing special. Maybe ever so slightly better than mainstream industrial MolsLab lager. Certainly nothing to write home about.

But then, I haven't tried any in several years. Maybe things have improved.

Re: Sleeman Mystery

.. You have to look at how big the Sleeman brewery is and wager the odds that they're going to brew a unique product for a Moxie's restaurant. How many kegs a week does Moxie's do? What is Sleeman's batch size? Is it possible? I suppose anything is possible...but very few beers of this type are uni...

Burgermeister, I have to say that I have to agree that this will continue to be a marketing issue and not a quality beer issue...but...as a much abused shareholder, I am hoping for a significant direction change in branding (away from 'Brick') as well as a diminished role in the value/crap market. ...

Is Sleeman actually in the position to make these sort of decisions yet? According to the press release announcing the take-over, the deal won't be finalized until June at the earliest. I'd expect that things would be business at usual at Unibroue until then - although I suppose that they could dec...

Well...tan my hide and call me Nancy... Doug Berchtold is Pres and CEO of Brick as of today and Jim has been grandfathered! There is hope yet for these guys. Now they just have to change the name of the brewery to really turn it around. I suppose that depends upon what you consider "hope...

.... As a shareholder, I find this frustrating. Then again, as a shareholder you can take a little comfort in the rapid rise in the stock price of late. 'course if your Ed Kernaghan, new member of the Brick Board of Directors you're probably even happier. He just (his company) bought over 2 million...

Re: Brick brews Loblaws PC Beer

Looks like the Brick is now going to brew Loblaws PC Beer...what the hell is up with that?? :-? Brickman's got a couple of good sized breweries and doesn't brew enough to fill 'em I guess. I suppose it's easier to make a buck on cheap crap than it is on decent beer, especially when PC is footing th...

Yes, the owners of Unibroue put up the money, the work and took the risks to create a huge amount of value. But you cannot entirely discount the patronage of the people who have been buying Unibroue's products and their potential indignance at the announcement of the sale of the company. They bough...
