Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

It's not new to the LCBO, but Elora Borealis has never (to my knowledge) made to Eastern Ontario before recently. I was happy to see it on the shelves in Ottawa as I've become a fan from visits to KW. It's made me wonder if there are other great beers available at the LCBO that do not make it this f...

Maybe not the most exciting release, but I'm enjoying the Uerige Alt.

Re: Coming Soon to the LCBO

"One week from today (Friday the 14th) we're going to be throwing a party at the Lansdowne CRAFT Beer Market to celebrate Aromatherapy's LCBO launch! " Beyond the Pale Aromatherapy is pretty solid IPA addition to the lcbo if you ask me. I just picked up some from the brewery and Aromather...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Dieu du Ciel Tamarindo and Saison du Parc. The Tamarindo is very sour, some lemony tamarind taste. Not sure how to react to this one but it's shaping up to be one of those beers where upon first taste it's "WTF is this?", and by the end of the four-pack I will become a fan. The Saison du P...

Re: New Arrivals at LCBO & TBS

at TBS Broadhead Bodacious Blueberry Blond Blueberry seems to be the thing this year. This is the third I've seen to go with Lake of the Woods Forgotten Lake Blueberry Ale , and Waterloo Blueberry Weizenbier I like the Broadhead Blueberry. It reminds me of the Pump House Blueberry from New Brunswic...

Friend just picked up the calling, saying it has a best before date of Feb 2017, bottled in Feb 2016... Anyone else see this too?
Same in Ottawa. Tasting good though.

Re: in the "just becasue we can" category?

Even here in Ontario the LCBO has at least tried to keep up with the times and locations are busy with wine tastings and occasionally, cooking demos. As infuriating as it can be, it's attractive, bright and somewhere you don't mind spending time browsing. You go in there on a weekend and it's full o...

Re: What're you drinking right now?

I have recently developed a taste for Double IPAs, used to hate them. Unfortunately, there are not usually a huge selection at the LCBO, I usually do better on the Quebec side. The Hickson Imperial IPA is pretty good when I end up at the IGA. Anyway, to get back to the subject of this thread, I'm dr...

Big Rig Pumpkin Porter, available in cans from the brewpub. It's quite good. I get tired of pumpkin beers pretty quickly around this time of year but I will enjoy this one while it's out.

Re: What're you drinking right now?

Smithworks Kellerbier - This one was a bit of a revelation for me. I guess it's been at the LCBO for a while but I don't know how much it's been seen in Ottawa. Anyway, very much enjoyed it. Tank 7 Farmhouse - When I first had this one, I enjoyed it but really wasn't too broken up about it just a on...

Re: LCBO Summer Craft Beer Release 2015

Picked some up in Ottawa today. I wasn't sure what to expect from it (not really experienced with so-called Farmhouse Ales) but it reminds me of The Princess Wears Girl Pants. Quite nice though. Judging from the bottle that we're shipped, it has a wide international distribution.

It's in the system now at least and showing up on their web site, just not showing in any stores yet.

I don't like the idea of a separate area for beer (in grocery stores) but I can live with it as long as it's in the store itself and I only have to go to one checkout for all items. If it's like the wine outlets in grocery stores, then that's crap. My understanding though is that they just want to l...

I assume giving the OCB any special rights could prompt a NAFTA challenge. All breweries should have the same rights if you're practicing free trade, which is fine with me.

I would like to try that. It's in a zillion LCBO's but nothing east of Kingston. I hate when they do that!
